Because of the mass market. The thing about “genre” writing isn’t so much that it is horror/scifi/romance/whatever, but rather it is that these tend to be defined by certain expectations. Expectations, in an of themselves aren’t bad, per se, but they are easily exploited by bad writers who can, nevertheless, follow

yeah as a major HP fan this is giving me pause. I mean, I would watch a “travel show” of magical communities around the world, but to find out America is seen through a bland filter of stereotypes...eh....

I’m not sure what about it is supposed to be appealing! I guess I’m supposed to have immediately bought in because of the link to Harry Potter?

However,

Spot on. I think that Thomas was 100% done with his sister’s schemes and really loved Edith, unlike his previous wives.

Admittedly I don’t have much faith in either of these.

Stop. Just stop.

Good.

Good, maybe it’ll give Mr. Blomkamp time to learn to make not bad movies.

Exactly why when they said they were writing off the EU continuity for the new movies I knew that it was a good decision. I think I stopped reading at Darksaber (which was so horrendously awful) but the EU started out very promising.

And who gives 3/8 of a fuck about Tom Bombadil?
