Also check to see if you can find out what the "surveillance device" really is. When this was first brought up, someone pointed out that the photograph is of a common component to household lighting.

Inhibited corn growth will mean more baby corn, like the kind in thai food.

@espinha: Well, who wants to pay for the hosting? Apparently Yahoo doesn't. Maybe it'll be a giant RAR file, so anyone who wants any of it will have to download the whole damn thing... That'd be nice.

@matt buchanan: ...Probably because they're going to get rid of the regular MacBooks before long. It will be MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.

@GoreBurnelli: I'm literally a card-carrying ACLU, Cydia-using type of guy as well, but I also understand why Apple doesn't want to get into the business of, for instance, policing X-rated iOS apps.

@my name is jonas: Maybe not. Developers won't have to pay overhead costs for hosting or promotion, plus whatever competition they have will be marketing itself through the same venue, and can undercut them in price if they get too greedy.

@GoreBurnelli: So many developers are going to be seduced by this, though. Apple covers hosting, builds-in DRM, and has a ratings-and-popularity system which guarantees that if your product is good, and people like it, it will sell like hotcakes.

@TallDudeFromBrazil: There is also a prevalence, though, of small Mac-using businesses with maybe seven or eight computers, like photography and design shops. That's a very strong market for Macs.

@thePrototype: I'm aware of software piracy, but it's harder for people to pirate software that requires some sort of connection to the internet... like software sold through the App Store. It might be made too irritatingly difficult to pirate.

@thePrototype: Huh? Haven't you ever heard of volume licensing? Apple does it all the time, for iLife, iWork, Mac OSX upgrades, and so on. Most software companies offer volume licensing, especially for businesses that have a lot of computers to keep track of. But, different companies implement volume licensing very

@NanorH: That's ridiculous. If you haven't heard, Apple is no longer really in competition with Microsoft, at least on the operating system front. If you check benchmarks, Macs tend to be the best, fastest brand for running Windows. This has been true since Apple switched to Intel. They build really high-end

I've still got Apple's live stream up... the soft jazz does not stop rolling!

I wonder how they're going to implement the App Store for people who have more than five personal computers.

@MikeHTiger: It makes you wonder if the Giz guys are actually at the event or if they're liveblogging the stream... I wonder if Apple has forgiven Chen enough to invite him back.

@TheCatInTheHat: For buying that iPhone 4 from the guy who found it in a bar. Gizmodo were not invited to at least one subsequent Apple event after that. Although, I guess right now they could be liveblogging the internet stream, watching it the same way I am.

I guess Apple has forgiven Jason Chen, or Steve Jobs is going to pants him after the show...

@Settings: Meh. I installed Safari for Windows to check, and it says "Available shortly. Please check back soon." I wonder why it doesn't even work on Leopard — just Snow Leopard.

On the Apple website for today's event, it says "Streaming video requires Safari 4 or 5 on Mac OS X Snow Leopard or Safari on iOS 3 or later."
