The very last story arc of the Clone Wars TV show (on the direct-to-disk season 6) is precisely this. Precisely this. I remember a strip where the entire strip is Charlie Brown wondering what Snoopy might be thinking. The final panel shows that Snoopy is thinking "Soccer moms". That's it. No reason given. Replace "Soccer moms" with "Emoji" and the strip would be completely unchanged.
