what is even more irritating about this is that 3M, a Minnesota based company, has reportedly developed a protective film that can be adhered to the glass that reflects ultraviolet light, but not visible light so it looks translucent to humans, but opaque to most birds.

Kind of on-topic - We have a pet cockatiel and have to put stickers on the windows so he doesn’t fly into them. I know - birds are stupid.

Yep. Kind of disincentivizes folks from buying it if individual digital components included in the bundle can “sell out” while the bundle is still for sale. I have nothing constructive to say about that “practice”.

The older dolls had a heavy string threaded through their neck hole, so it was possible to take off the head (to wash/set the hair, to replace a damaged head, or switch out the eyes) and easily knot it back down. The doll’s clothes hid the rather bulky but super functional string.

The leg rotates pretty freely in a lot of positions, yet the doll can stand on its own, but it sure looks freaky as hell.

So it’s Hooters but more expensive? Nah.

This. if you don’t want voicemail, isn’t there an option to not set it up or turn it off in the menu? I know of at least 4 people in my company that I have called recently (I’m internal support, I need to talk to you since you need me to help you fix something) that have either not setup their voicemail, or simply do

But...but why? answering machines and voicemails solved the immense problem of not knowing if someone would answer when you called, so you could leave them a message. Look, my husband’s father doesn’t have an answering machine or voicemail. He’s very VERY low tech. Do you know how maddening it is to call someone who

My body pretty much sleep-deprives itself automatically when I travel. I do not sleep well on planes.

Wouldn’t it just be easier to leave an outgoing message explaining that for immediate response you’re best reached via text or email? My industry is very big on direct verbal communication so I couldn’t possibly make myself only available through written word or I’d start losing opportunities and getting shut out of

Wow, talk about passive-aggressive. If a friend or colleague ever did this, I’d dump them from my contact list. Why waste MY time calling somebody when they’ve deliberately made voice contact a hit or miss affair?

First, I still don’t understand people who don’t use their voicemail. But more importantly, you can call your phone company have them turn the option off.

I mean, I wouldn’t want to get rid of it entirely, just in case someone I do want to talk to leaves me a message that they wouldn’t have otherwise texted or emailed me. But Google Voice-style voicemail transcription should be everywhere so you don’t have to actually listen to it.

This seems very short sighted. I recently was in a car accident and voicemail meant not missing an important car from a doctor, the insurance, the police or the car dealsership who I bought my new car from while not having to always pick up and talk to the many car dealerships I didn’t go with that kept calling, not

As much as I hate the phone, voicemails still do have a place. However, since I changed my vm greeting to basically say “text or email if you want a response” people have started contacting me by other means. This is great when you A) hate phones and B) work in a cube farm and can communicate without having to step

*Ahem*

That’s alright, I think people who think there are gonna be dozens more Avatar movies are full of shit

My friend posted this one from the London march. It’s so British lol.

A woman I spoke to told me the woman who lavishly embroidered her sign said it was born out of a desire to stab something 3000 times. I love.
