The main goal would be to ram into opponents, weakening them until their sparrow explodes. The arena will also have mounds & ramps to clear deadly chasms & void/arc/solar pools to knock your opponents…
The worst I did was play The Conduit on Wii all the way through non-stop in about 2 days. I did keep hydrated and eating, though. Popped a squat twice, too. Sounds like this poor guy did none of that.
