The only solution to traffic congestion is viable alternatives to driving.

Even medium sized American cities were pretty walkable well into the 20th century. We tore all this stuff down to build parking lots.

Also, where do you start when attempting to fix this? In a better organized society, klurejr would prefer to live closer to work. If it was well designed, people would cluster around public transport instead of being spread out in a suburban smegma.

I would suggest taking things a step further and saying that the heavier the vehicle, the smaller the federal rebate- With a weight target that keeps going down, kinda like the way we do MPG requirements now- set it to a 6,000 pound limit to be able to qualify for anything and a 3,000 pound limit for the maximum

So the point of EVs is to reduce weight so that less batteries go further. Yet the IRS is using outdated GVWRs to determine what is a sedan vs a CUV/SUV, etc. Either make it Occupant Loan (ie 5 passenger = $55,000 cap, and 7+ passenger = $80,000 cap) or something more black and white. I don’t see how the VW ID4 RWD is

Imagine how much bigger they could be if their dealer network wasn’t so bad in the US.

What I’d also like to see is if this is even worth doing given NYC’s plan to implement congestion pricing. The Holland Tunnel is already tolled, but its only exit dumps you out into the congestion zone. I’d rather see how congestion limits car traffic and if it would make this plan obsolete.

Well, that and US manufacturers discovered the profit margins on SUVs and Trucks are higher than cars.

One of the main reasons is because people don’t like that they can’t see up the road because of the SUVs and pickups in front of them. It’s a race to the tallest car possible. People have also been convinced that any car without four-wheel-drive and and extra two inches of clearance will suddenly skid off the road

I don’t know exactly what you’d have to do to effectively close it. It’s relatively simple to create an LLC and tax rules around company vehicles get abused constantly because they’re sort of onerous to enforce. You don’t want to overly burden legitimate/business uses, but you probably need to put a recurring cost
