There are potential breakthroughs in computing that allow for massive increases in computations per kw-hr”

AI rivals crypto mining as the biggest waste of electricity and compte power.  There's also the water use issue.  Google's data center in The Dalles is already controversial for its water use and the slightly shady deal with the local government to hide water use as a "trade secret".

This week I have received over half a dozen calls on my work phone from an AI powered call center looking to update our company info for a trade magazine.

Not content to simply poison the online world, they also have to destroy the offline.

AI and crypto mining are destroying the world while providing no meaningful benefit to society. Gotta love it.

I quite literally had to debunk in real time when I saw a friend posted shite like this online. Like, a 2 second google search proved him wrong and he still was trying to say it happened. It’s bonkers.

Shit it’s not even just fitting in the spot, being able to SEE to even get out is almost impossible if your not driving a jacked up bro dozer.

Just stop building these ridiculously over-sized monstrosities.

Both the ease at which these lies spread and the ferocity that the simps hold on to them (even when shown to be lies) is precisely why this country is not long for peace. The second a social media site deletes them as “false”, the RW screams “censorship!” and the site is brought in front of Congress.  Only a matter of

You know, it shows amazing restraint that the government of California doesn’t just sue these folks for defamation. It’s a pretty airtight case, right? Typically the government as an entity can’t be defamed, but you could pretty clearly outline harm to individual employees.

“You won’t see this on the news!” they say about a story they just made up.

The necessity for the 5 orange lights on the front for trucks over a certain width was a discouragement for a while, until automakers realized that truck guys actually liked them and would pay more for it. Now they are leaning into it at full force

We could, I dunno, have limits on the width, length and height of non-commercial vehicles.

Without the beautiful Yamaha V6 we didn’t really miss much here.

That grave is going to piss-soaked immediately and for decades. Ya love to see it.

That’s going to be one soggy patch of brown grass, I can assure you. There will be a 24/7 line of people waiting, and I’ll be on the side selling bottled water.

It’s been a couple decades since I’ve been to jail, but I will happily go back again if I get the chance to piss on Trump’s grave.

Hyundai N cars and the Kia Stinger. I have a sneaking suspicion we’re going to look back on these as Korea’s equivalent of Japanese bubble era offerings, and well-maintained examples are going to be exceedingly rare in an alternative fuels era.

Actually more and more modern hybrids are made to run on battery only whenever possible (low speed with enough charge). I borrowed my MIL’s Sienna recently to move something and found that it would run on battery only when I drove below 35MHP and didn’t stomp the gas.
