This is the point. I love driving. I like wrenching on cars. I like old cars and I own multiple. Because I can and because I like it.

I love my car but I would bike/ride/walk to work way before I drove, if possible.

There’s no actual reason to believe they’re necessarily worse in any way.

Why isn’t it cheaper/replacing the Passat? Hyundai sells a car that has largely the same shape for much less, and the latest NMS Passat just looks outdated (though it’s obviously due to be phased out).

That’s actually really f*cking funny, not gonna lie.

It’d be funny if the name of the car was something ridiculous.

Is your daily driving enough that you’d actually need to install a charger? We have an EV and PHEV and we have been managing fine for like 95% of the time just juggling a 110 connection.

I mean, yeah, it is nice to have a level 2, but if I remember the stats correctly, nearly half of commutes are like 35 miles or less.

Interestingly, 1905 was the first year when gasoline powered cars outsold EVs. Their popularity was because of increased range although there was concern about the lack of gas stations in many parts of the US, particularly in the rural midwest.

the adoption is very slow because of a pretty unfortunate issue: it doesn’t work for the vast majority of cases.

maybe they’re gonna be forced to go electric for the one place where it works (the sorting yard) if cities start cracking down with emissions regs inside their borders but like yeah for mainline you just

I see, so your main issue here is that the recall should state they explode too much

People playing chicken with a train is not a tragedy, it’s people paying the price for stupidity. This might be the dumbest of the oh so many dumb takes here.

The US has 300% more vehicle deaths per capita than Germany. How does Germany do that? Not with any of that BS you wrote about. They have strict licensing requirements and good transit infrastructure.

“I” have freedom.... US freedoms revolve around “I”, “Me”, “My”, “Mine”, and “Not Yours.”

And already the, “If it affects performance or engine note? No thank you.” comments are out in force.
ie I’d rather have my child, or my friend’s children grow up in a filthier country where our children suffer more from a variety of diseases and neurological deficits all so that my car can go Vroom Vroom louder and

We found one of the truckers with bad language comprehension skills!

The reason behind the name doesn’t change the fact that it is genuinely bad.

Saying this genuinely, make sure you get out and move around on those 12-hour-drive days! Blood clots in the legs are a real thing; working in hospitals for 7-ish years now, they do send people to us! I’ll save the diatribes about car dependence making us less healthy (I’ve had long-driving days in my life, too);

they also gave me a sippy cup

I’m actually 13

Exactly I call it the vehicle size nuclear arms race, with every generation bigger than the last so that people can feel safe and have a "commanding view of the road".  People making things as perceived better for themselves are making it actual worse for everybody.
