Was my first thought on it today, the Maverick leapt to the top of my list for a next ride and that Hyundai needs to drop in the 1.6T hybrid system from the Santa Fe, Tuscon, and Sorento. I think the 2.5T Santa Cruz would be fun but the Maverick hybrid would be the daily driver winner. The one big plus the Santa Cruz

It’s a pseudo SUV/pickup truck, so I’m sure it will sell okay. Having both options on the market means more buyers and (hopefully) fewer ginormous, unnecessarily large full-size pickup trucks on the road.

Yeah, I think that ship limped desultorily out of the harbor, listing heavily to starboard, some time ago.

Don’t forget:

Two people (presumably without kids) making even ok money in rural NM can afford a shared car that costs well less than the average new car price. Plus they have the Impreza as a trade in likely.

the onion should just do actual news for a few weeks and see if anyone notices the difference.

“Are we the bad guy?”

I get that you want a new car, and that the market is nuts. But, I suggest a used Toyota Avalon Hybrid. Get the one you can afford with the lowest miles.

Perhaps sadder is the condition and future for the SS United States. Since it ceased operations in the early 70s. The ship is the largest ocean liner constructed entirely in the United States and the fastest ocean liner to cross the Atlantic in either direction. But since being retired form active use, she has been

If I cannot let out a barbaric yawp, I don’t even understand the point of the suburbs.

It’s like they forgot used cars are a thing. Hopefully people aren’t scrapping their cars after a few years ICE or EV.

To gain the environmental dividend that governments are looking for, users are going to have to keep them longer, drive them further than they may have done with a conventional internal combustion energy vehicle.”

Every EV on sale this century can easily handle a 50 mile commute with only 120v trickle charging at home.

Yep. They just make the statement with no backup. Typical click-bait era news.

If they had keep the V10 the NSX would’ve sold a lot better than it did. The price would have made sense, heck it might have even looked like a deal compared the LFA.

But I want to be angry NOW!

The more options are out there, the more EVs will get sold. This may not be up your alley, and it certainly isn’t up the alley of anyone trading in a Prius, but if it gets another 15mpg pickup truck off the road, we can still count it as progress.

Very green EV indeed... I guess still better than having people buying this over a gas version, as a consolation price. My only problem is part of reducing our impact on the environment is to drive something smaller but I am afraid EV will not help in this matter as buyers will feel they are doing their part because

Yeah no this is bullshit. We’re never going to get anything better here if we just convince ourselves that better things aren’t possible before they have even been attempted.

If you really want a mind trip think about the power. A ge powered 777 cruises using about 40 to 50 megawatts of power. Think of that in terms of homes powered (up to 45,000).
