being born in the us, half japanese, and growing up in chevys, it took me years to finally get my first volvo. felt like i was cheating on my 92 K1500 (which i still have, and probably always will)... but otherwise my other 6 cars ive owned have all been volvo... but what hurt the most was recently switching to an

Oh, dealers won’t go away. I don’t see that. Way too much power in their hands.

Jalopnik had an article some time back where they said that customers didn’t want colors and more. I guess if the “customer” is the dealership, that’s right. But they endless shades of meh available in modern cars keeps me out of the dealership. Mazda? Call me when I can get a 3 grand touring in BRG with tan leather

I see we’ve hit the purest form of “Hyundai is ripping someone off” posts - not even being able to name who they’re supposedly knocking off.

I like what Hyundai has done, giving the mother brand some of its best designs and thus gradually changing consumer’s mindset, as opposed to the Toyota/Lexus way.

Supercharger and a turbo? Sold!

I disagree. Before de Nysschen came in and unilaterally determined that the brand only needed a new naming nomenclature rather than investment in new vehicles, Infiniti was essentially a Japanese BMW to Lexus’ Japanese MB. The original G35 was rated by more than car rag at the time as the best alternative to the

As someone who sold Infinitis for quite a while, we all kinda knew this car was never going to happen. Infiniti couldn’t even be bothered to update its best selling SUVs, there was no chance they were going to come out with a high performance version of the slow selling coupe.

Over the past 40 or so years, our country has deferred maintenance on the road system because taxes bad, gas must be cheap and freedom. We’ve also systematically cut almost all the strings to our safety nets, deregulated everything we could get away with and what we’ve ended up with is a world where honestly, Trucks

Did you read the article or just skip it to post that?

The downside is for the rest of us who don’t want the damned things. The automakers are lemmings and are starting to not make anything else BUT those cars.

this is monumentally stupid, even for an internet message board.

It most certainly is a negotiation. I’ve worked with an Indian tribe and they’ve become very adept at playing the victim card. Usually it’s a shakedown for a payout; then they start to infighting over which of their own factions get it. See casinos, Keystone XL Pipeline, literally any government social program and now

I’m not sure I see how this is a negotiation. The Cherokee Nation leaders have made it clear to Jeep/Stellantis that they do NOT feel honored by this; Jeep keeps repeating that they’re continuing to “honor and celebrate” the Cherokee people by using the name. Jeep absolutely can call their product whatever they want

Counterpoint: oooohhhhhhhh yyyyyeeeaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh baby make politics borrrrrrrrring and procedural again. Yesssss tell me all about that 100 day plan... please address that critical gap again. YESSSSSSS.

100% - I like to camp and backpack and there’s a useful phrase in the backcountry and it’s: you pack your fears.

80% charge in 18 minutes- that’s now approaching gas station speed, especially if you can pair it with stopping to eat. At this point its now all about getting a unified charging network set up across the country- I would take an 18 minute stop to refuel if it meant getting away from gas. And it’s just going to keep

Mitsubishi, Toyota and Nissan all started out building their own versions of FIATs, Austins and even Chryslers. The first BMW car was based on the Austin Seven design made under license.

not this canard again.. it really doesnt need more range. I love how every fucking person in this country is a rancher/long haul trucker that commutes 1000 miles a day in the arctic.

They didn’t really “shamelessly copy” anyone at any point. Extremely early years they officially licensed Fords, which were never sold outside of Korea. Kia also officially licensed Fords, and actually regularly built Fords - the Kia Pride being imported as the Fiesta and then the Aspire. When they started to make
