Don't know about the name, but this was a national news story that my local newspaper frontpaged & I couldn't get myself to read through because it was so awful. No excuse or pretense that it was for terrorists or dangerous criminals, just a warehouse for those who wouldn't be missed.

Yes yes yes. They have so many imitators that the original is no longer unique or really needed.

Yes, the reviewer thought it was emotionless/lacking compared to Don, but wasn't he just about to pivot to the hope, happiness(and maybe sense of individuality) the new beer would bring the guy just as Don would have done, when he used nostalgia or family feeling or aspiration as the hook for his

Good novels don't have that clunky sticks out symbolism. the references here are more like the namedropping easy well known standard mainstream commercial period references done to death in popular culture. It's in the visual symbolism that MM really shines/is creative.

Yes, surprised the reviewer didn't pick up on that box—-and that Don gave his secretary access to his past as well as his present secrets. Or was that Don Draper's SS card?

Except Don acted out every sexual daydream to the point of boredom & never put up with a nagging wife. His double lives are acted out in the flesh and real time & his reveries are about past adventures for the benefit of the viewing audience, not escapes he never had/has the courage to pull off . Thurber's Walter

Strangely tho your comment lowered my apathy level—but not enough to look up what the opposite of apathy is. Too informative and pithy for a "whatever" response.

Nope, it's a clever pun, because the narrator starting out, from whose perspective the audience originally was guided, was Meredith Grey, a medical student who immediately began a dreamy affair with her smarmy supervisor. Gray's Anatomy was the traditional & still authoritative textbook for all medical students,

Does your stepmom watch Empire, Blackish, or How To Get Away With Murder? Do your coworkers ask for DVDs of them? Those are all recent mainstream hits.

Yes but it's a very tribal notion of what a father is—-not a daily caring person but "seed of my seed." Glad so many late 20th century & 21st century US fathers felt spending time with/knowing their kids was what counted, not just the idea of being related to someone you didn't really know(at least until they didn't

Yes, what a waste of DT & OC!!!

Tho a recent BBC series about a missing child did that ad nauseum—the peodophile's struggles resist, his unjust persecution, the sincere efforts of others in cousnseling, his enduring extreme sickness to take castrating drugs, his lifelong ostracism, and his eventual suicide. He was a loner without any relationships.

That's more like an Old Testament /Koranic literalist form of morality, one that even modern Old Testament/Koran followers don't follow——let alone most who follow the message of The Gospel. Plus the bitterness & grief these people are suffering would make them just as angry if he confessed & did not get executed. They

One more reason the whole plot was avoidable. Wouldn't a half competent investigation have turned that up in the first investigation? When a teenage & preteen girl disappear/are found murdered, wouldn't/weren't the angles of pedophilia & sexual predation automatically considered by the public as well as the police?

Yes, how could the original investigation have missed that? Is date rape never reported in small town Britain? Wouldn't his wife or pubmates have an inkling of his repeated philandering and/or leaving with women who looked "out of it?" Having an alibi that isn't double checked for years is shoddy enough police work,

I love the way he talks & thought it was a Scottish accent, which for some reason I can always understand, while I need captions for the posher British accents. But yes he uses volume often with this character as one of the ways to show weariness, illness, postsurgical exhaustion, and painkiller floatiness. There were

That "love" theme didn't seem so earned or plausible in light of the scenes they did and didn't show. Missing any interaction with Jone's daughter, tho at least we have cultural presumptions about hormones & maternal bonding. With Ramsey, tho, he has just a few minutes with a kid he never bonded with in infancy,

Earthsea! Mariachi Gringo!

Clearly she raised an empathetic and articulate daughter.

Violina, so sorry you went through this. There are so many dimensions to nurturing a child and no one can achieve even their own ideals, let alone everyone else'sJane's father wasn't there at all, her closest relatives fought in front of her over her care and much else, and she is as healthy and intelligent as can
