The German accent Neville Sinclair sprouts out of nowhere once he's outed as a Nazi sympathizer entertains me to no end. I'm afraid to watch this movie again because I'm sure it'll disappoint the child in me who loved it so, so much.

Zac Efron could do the kind of gee whiz! earnestness, though. Hairspray, for example.

Not being from Illinois, I know very little about Casimir Pulaski Day, but my Illinois expat friend seems pretty convinced that creating another white guy holiday was the only way the state legislature could make MLK Day a holiday. I have no idea if this is accurate or not.

Here are some sample lyrics from my fifth grade class's musical production of Lewis and Clark:

Elder Cunningham!

It's certainly a phenomenon in all walks of life.

Please. Please.

A week late, but "Most of the blood has been washed away…" is one of the creepiest lines I've ever heard. Extra creepy for the delivery, naturally.

4.) The target audience of the MTV Movie Awards weren't actually born yet for Pike's first nomination, so she's breaking through all over again.

I threw out Titus Andronicus, which I've never actually seen or read, but don't some sons get baked into a pie? As soon as Alex gave his extra clue after the time ran out though, I cursed and knew the right answer. Alas.

fuck Gosling for being good looking

I'm of two minds about the voiceovers. I do like that they wove into the story somehow. It's almost like the version we heard before, with its extra-serious tone, was his rehearsal version before actually giving the speech. And juxtaposing it with his disposing of the body was another great sequence.

Pre-show: Danny kills Sarah
Season 1: John kills Danny
Season 2: Kevin kills John
Season 3: Meg kills Kevin
Season 4: Ghost Sarah kills Meg

Shades of the fight he picked to lose with the Navy guy, really. I agree with this completely.

The final shot of this episode is going to haunt me.

I'm sure they knew Mendelsohn was good going in, but they probably didn't realize he'd end up being the best part of the show, and the wheels were in motion to kill him from the very first episode.

Every time the flashbacks come up I marvel at how much the kid they got to play young Danny looks like Ben Mendelsohn.

Especially after John, earlier in the series, quietly confessed to Danny that he had no idea how he would go on if something happened to one of his kids.

(Probably) top five, in no particular order:

Romulus was my first favorite Stevens song, and it's still in the top five for me.
