Hey don’t sweat it. One of the wonderful aspects of SUVs is that they circumvent many car safety features including bumper height. All cars have the same bumper height so that crumple zones etc.. actually crumple and absorb energy. SUVs cleverly avoid such inconvenience.

One thing that’s hard to fathom is how small these are- if I remember correctly it comes up to about your hip. NP - if you want one, I think you have to pay a little. Get one of those little flags on a pole so people in other cars can see you.

IMO The only elegant big car with any charm, that BMW ever made was the e9 series and it isn’t even on your list. The rest seem either an overt statement on managerial status, or answer the question “What is it like to drive a bar of soap?”.

Since it looks great, this is an academic question.  Do people really think a stock Miata looks good - it’s small, seats 2 - but kind of stops there.

It will serve a niche within a niche. Whearas pickups and theor utility derivatives are the highest selling veicles in the US and the EV skatebooard works for it, and the general limited range needs works for it, and Tesla has bupkis. Hey, they’re doing fine - just a curious miss of a sure thing.

Don’t know if this is humor, but he is surely doing himself and the brand no favors.

Part of this would have been to develop a small/medium modular truck platform instead of the cybertruck. Like the roadster, the cybertruck is a vanity project and could have been slow marched while the modular platform, for which the EV “rollerskate” is incredibly apt, could have been well in the pipeline.

i always turn to ford to see what gutless mediocrity is - it makes me feel better about myself.

I think there was a lot of tension in VW regarding leaving the rear engine aircooled paradigm. That could have led to odd corporate decisions - perhaps they envisioned a more powerful watercooled engined for the squarebacks and wanted a chassis that could be adopted. In the end the aircoolers lost and the rabbit was…
