you know it’s totally possible that he and others think that there’s a definite problem with police brutality but that greg’s a fucking sensationalist moron

‘progressive’ in the sense that he’s not actually done anything?? by what metric has he been progressive for lgbt people

presidents in the past have gotten involved in all sorts of civil rights issues???

this is obama’s stance on virtually every social issue. basically ‘I will care just enough to dangle the carrot for my core base, but not enough to alienate the right’

can a cop legally shoot you if you attacked him and made a move for his gun? Yes.

it's stupid emotionally charged bullshit on both sides. I mean obviously there's a problem with getting unnecessary police violence prosecuted but still

one can unarmed and shot for valid reasons but yeah continue to go on with your wonderful analogies

man good point

let me make this easy for you:

so call it out when it actually happens like this, rather than just rattling off irrelevent stats about cop shootings in general

so do I when it is not justified, as this was. Blanket statements about all shootings being unjustified are stupid

I'm not but what on earth does that have to do what I said?

and another note, 'fired so many shots' you are firing to kill, whether it takes 1 or 10 bullets. Usually these comments are from the other side, not those siding with cops...

yowzer

it's the exact same schtick as this stuff. inflammatory headline/lede, use of adjectives without any kind of purpose, repeat the same goddamn point over and over while not knowing what you are talking about

there definitely needs to be more accountability, but the notion that any time a POC gets shot it's murder is fucking stupid. Actually come to think of it pretty much anything greg writes is fucking stupid dribble, be it about politics or soccer or reposting something that was on reddit 3 weeks ago

gawker claims any time a black person is shot that it's murder, and this is untrue.

my point is that the entire movement went from rightfully getting pissed and making noise when injustice clearly went down (Zimmerman, Garner, this) to the notion that every single time a POC gets shot it is because a cop broke the law. It's stupid emotionally charged bullshit.

greg's formula:

this whole conversation would be a whole lot less loaded and stupid if people stopped acting like it was a crime every time cops shoot someone and start looking at things individually. some of these clearly are, some of them clearly are not, some are murky.
