In my experience people don’t actually bake exactly what’s on the show. People will see next week is “cake week” (or whatever the generic theme is) and bake any old cake to eat while they watch that episode.

I have more than one friend (and even more acquaintances) here in the U.K. that baked whatever that weeks theme is going to be (they always say at the end of the episode what the next one will be) so they can eat that thing while they watch the episode.
