Actually I think the best response to a guy entering the restroom to prove a point would be to say, “Fine. You say you’re a lady. This is the ladies room. You’re here, so you might as well do what the rest of us do: pick a stall, do your business, and make sure to wash your hands. See how boring and uneventful it is?…

I get the point of this to like, explain it to the numbskulls. But I hate that it’s relying on the fact that these men are passing, when there are plenty of trans folks who don’t pass as well who still deserve our support and protection.

I don’t think it’s (that) big a deal that he can’t think of any women writers who have inspired him. I do think it’s rather stupid of him to publicly make generalizations about what sort of research and journalism he thinks women are willing and able to do.
