It seem also that the time to become a commodity has shortened. Computers took from early 80's to approximately 2010's to mature. The iPod did is in 5 to 6 years, the iPad in 3 to 4 years. The phones, I believe, have had a longer maturity time because of the changes of the networks, 3g, then 4g and then 5g is coming.
