Yeeeeah, we got this far because we coddled idiots and told them their opinions that have no basis in fact are as valuable as actual facts. I can’t count the number of people I’ve met or heard of whose stories boiled down to. “I voted for him because of X reason, but now he’s just screwing me over on Y!”
