Given how that crater looks, I’d have to say a diverter of some sort will be mandatory. I can’t imagine them just rebuilding to what they had today (and honestly, I can’t imagine how they thought they could get away without one to begin with). But yeah, my money’s on a diverter / trench / something when they make…
Assuming they can get the launch license, they can get the next one stacked and ready within the next month or two.
It’s been posted above, but here’s LabPadre’s post again:
Yah, you’re probably right. Still, keeping my fingers crossed.
The goal was to not destroy the launch complex. Mission accomplished.

Just as an fyi, there is a water deluge system in place at that test pad and it was operating at the time of this test. So you can check that box. Depending on what they determine caused the fires, a deluge system may or may not help mitigate that (they’re mainly used for sound suppression iirc) ...
What’s a “kilomter”?
Which means if the proposed solution costs SpaceX even a fraction of a cent, they will laugh and walk away.
Indeed. AFAIK SpaceX doesn’t employ any astronauts — all of their manned missions have been comprised of either NASA personnel or private crews, both of which paid SpaceX to get them to various places in space. You can’t really say someone has jumped the metaphorical ship if they were never on it to begin with …

I believe they need to get FCC clearance for the methods / equipment they intend to use to facilitate communications between the vehicle and the ground. Hence this particular application to the FCC. There are myriad agencies (including the FAA) that regulate a variety of aspects of the program that SpaceX needs to get…
