I’m more a Morgan Threewheeler type.

I am excited for what EVs mean for the US market. And not just for Vinfast.

I would buy the first one. If I were me today but in the late eighties I would have bought the first Yugo too.

It really is a cute little guy, very reminiscent of the Jimny. It could be a real success story with 100+ miles of range. Even a bad car can be a winner for 13k, especially if it isn’t an embarrassment to be seen in.

Looks like a modern Suzuki Samurai.

That’s close to the price point for what I’d want in an electric vehicle. Something I could use to get around town, while I have my ICE vehicle for camping and long distance trips.

I agree, but to some extent a lot of modern ICE cars are like that anyway, sanitized and soulless, and as they age they’ll become nightmares to maintain. I think the sweet spot for ICE is already behind us with ‘90s and ‘00s fuel-injected motors that are reliable, easy enough to fix, and make good power. I’d say that

For the average person, I think EVs are great. This is not taking into account the environmental issues, which is such a confusing landscape with all the factors to look into as far as sustainability that most don’t even think to explore when saying one technology is superior to the other. I digress.

A well designed PHEV, like the Rav4 Prime, doesn’t turn the gas engine on unless you are asking for over 200hp or driving further than 42 miles. It is basically an EV for day to day driving while having the flexibility to do big day trips without taking out of the way routes or making additional stops to make it home.

Sacramento (of course not one of the biggies, but it’s a decent size market) straight up cancelled it. Not because of Covid, but nothing in inventory to show.

It’s such a bummer. I’ve attended the NYIAS nearly every year for the last decade and a half. This year, the first back from lock downs and cancellations, was very different from how it used to be.

wake me up when they remake the Roadster in EV form.  And sell it in America.    It really is a dream...
