I’m not dictating shit. I’m pointing out an obviously exploitative system. “Can” and “should” are two separate things.

Don’t question it. We’re supposed to “yas queen” every choice a rich woman makes. We should be grateful they were willing to give their hard earned money to the poors. (To be clear, I’m not criticizing the women who choose to do this. They have to do what they can to survive.)

Out of curiosity, how much would you sell your kidney for?

I can maybe see a situation where a family member would do it. Should it be a paid service? Absolutely not.

End stage capitalism. Why keep a spare kidney when you could sell it for a year of college tuition?

Pregnancy is a life altering, potentially life ending condition (700/year in the US). Much like not having a kidney could be a life ending condition. But nice try.

If she thinks childbirth is traumatizing, just wait until she has to change a diaper or stand by and watch her child go through surgery under anesthesia. Parenting is scary and traumatic, too. You aren’t owed a genetic copy of yourself. Adopt a child like a normal person. Not every thing a woman does is good.

LOL, have you done literally any research into surrogacy? You think financially stable, independent women would sacrifice their most fertile years and health for some other rich couple out of the goodness of their own heart? In numbers great enough to support an entire industry? Bless your heart.

Kinda makes my point for me. Some people in the US are compelled, beyond altruism, to be surrogates. We should question that, no?

So Canada, the UK and most of Europe are idiots?

Really? Have you researched anything about donating a kidney? It’s pretty intense. Just the approval process is pretty invasive. It’s a surgery that extracts an organ. How long have humans done that vs giving birth?

Paid surrogacy is illegal in Canada, as well as many other wealthy countries. The US is an exception, and not legal in all states. I guess no one has thought through the implications and complications as deeply as you have.

The alternative is adoption.

What makes the uterus an exception to the common practice of organs not being available for sale? Are kidneys for sale?

I guess the only ethical way I could see it happening is if they did so voluntarily for free. Like organ donation.

I don’t know. Maybe? Optionally punting the labor (pun intended) to another person is exploitative and gross. If they want to put themselves through the torture of IVF, then go at it. But renting a uterus is getting less defensible in this country, considering what has happened to women’s rights in the past two years,

“Kim told me about that [surrogacy] as well…I’m using the same doctor, Dr Huang, who’s the best and he has a concierge team that deals with everything and interviews the people [the surrogate] to make sure that they’re healthy.”

She and Adele have the same makeup artist.

What are alien chunks? If your mayo comes with alien chunks, I could understand the aversion.

She’s also been a strict dieter and athlete her entire life. It keeps you tight but it makes your hands look like the Crypt Keeper’s. A little fat and water weight is good, actually.
