LOL, consider that suggestion to be good ol' internet hyperbole more than anything. But I'm still not a fan of what Sonic Team's done lately.

LOL I only wish I had that kind of power! I might have been too harsh in my first post. There are parts of the Adventure series I like, but the problems I have with the games far outweigh them.
I've played all three, actually. I really liked Colors and thought it was the most successful of the new Sonic games. Generations is a game that relies heavily on nostalgia goggles anyway because it's a remake of old levels. And I would have liked SA2 much more without the gem-hunting and Tails/Eggman mecha levels,…
Hey, thanks for the first unnecessary insult. All my conversations on here about Sonic were being oddly civil until now. It felt unnatural.
You wouldn't be the first ;)
The only problem I had with the half-pipe stages was that if Tails was tagging along, he'd ALWAYS get hit by the bombs. I would actively work to make sure Tails didn't collect any rings so that he wouldn't lose them before the checkpoint :)
I remember playing Sonic 3 before Sonic & Knuckles came out, absolutely confused by some of those areas that you could see but never access. The rock wall in Angel Island that you couldn't break, the underwater section of Launch Base that you could see but couldn't get to. Apparently Sonic 3 & Knuckles was always…
Oh, and even though they were both REALLY hard, I always preferred the half-pipe special stages in Sonic 2 over the Blue Sphere challenges of 3 &Knuckles. I would have literal heart palpitations when the sphere levels would speed up, even more so than when hearing the 'running out of air' underwater music!
Yeah, but it wasn't so much a level as it was just a big room. I remember seeing the title, "Hidden Palace Zone" for the first time when playing it and getting excited, and then being like, "oh. That's it?"
I know, right? An actual civilized discussion between Sonic fans on their favorite game? We should mark this day, I don't think it's happened before and it may never happen again! :)
Can't fault you for that. In terms of sheer size, content, and story, you can't beat Sonic 3 & Knuckles. The save system was nice too (no such thing on Sonic 2). There's a bit of nostalgia that has biased my decision too: Sonic 2 was the first game I ever pre-ordered, and I made my mom drive an hour to pick it up,…
I liked Generations but some of the later levels became much more frustrating than fun in my opinion. And I hated every single one of the boss fights.
LOL, yeah, I could play any of the 2D Sonic games and have a good time. I just think the Sonic 2 levels flowed better. The only level I thought could have been left out was Aquatic Ruin. Such short levels, and it was weird to have a water level where, if you did it right, Sonic never actually had to go underwater!
Nope. Buy yourself a Genesis and some Sonic games and give it a try :) And if you locked on the Sonic & Knuckles cartridge with most other Genesis games, you'd get a randomized level of the dreaded Blue Sphere special stage from Sonic 3.
I think the problem is, there's a new generation of Sonic players who grew up on the Adventure series and actually think that these games are good, despite the horrible camera & control problems. Sonic Team's new technique has been to try to appease the 2D and 3D fans at the same time with disastrous results. The…
You could play as Knuckles if you attached Sonic 2 to the Sonic & Knuckles lock-on cartridge back in the day. It was fun, but because Knuckles' jump is lower than Sonic's it was damn near impossible to beat the final boss. I wonder if that was adjusted in this new version...
Apparently this was developed by Sonic fan Christian Whitehead, the same guy who created the engine for the mobile version of Sonic CD. What we've learned here is that this Whitehead guy should be hired as the new leader of Sonic Team and start cleaning house in there, 'cause he obviously knows Sonic better than the…
I hope this comes to America because I'll probably never have the $$ to make it over to the real thing. Miyamoto & Iwata are lucky as hell for their unobstructed view of the Mona Lisa, although in reality it's apparently a really tiny, boring painting.
Oh man, here we Gaugin.
Yep. Nobody cares about art. Not a one. Especially those people who help design all those video game characters you love.
