Yeah, that does happen. My boss was confused on why one of the student workers, who happens to be from Mexico, doesn’t celebrate Thanksgiving. She also was shocked to discover that Cinco de Mayo in Mexico is more similar to Presidents’ Day/Lincoln’s Birthday than it is to the 4th of July. Our poor student had to

Another Wisconsin public sector worker here. My gut feeling is that because of mostly morale issues, the unions if allowed could make a comeback. Enough of the people that honestly abused the union protections are gone and them bouncing from job to job, despite not being very good at doing even the bare minimum is

I think that the 2016 batch was smaller previous years because some of the 2015 production had to be recalled.  I managed to get one bottle at my local Whole Foods.

Similar background here. My mother was the in the middle of 9 kids and my dad is the youngest of 7. Both came from very conservative Republican families who for various reasons including primarily having student loan debt thanks to Reagan (Mom) and a second pointless war started by a President Bush (Dad), eventually

That’s something I still don’t understand. I’m fine with a fleece or heavy coat for the short time I have to be outside. The longest I’m out is when I have to wait 15 minutes for the bus heading home. I got a nice coat from Uniqlo last year because the North Face one was too bulky to wear while sitting on the bus.

Hey, we made Scott Walker unemployed and homeless as of January 6, 2019 and it would be the cherry and whipped cream on our sundae if Mike McCarthy was out of a job by the end of the year.  I think even the people who voted for Walker would be behind having McCarthy gone.  The one debate that guarantees bipartisan

It’s very similar on US college campuses in areas that get snow and a real winter. We got our first snow that stuck didn’t melt right away last week in Wisconsin and the Canada Goose coats/winter boots combos made their first appearance of the season. I’m a lifelong midwest resident and I know that’s overkill for

Thanks. My sister and I aren’t that sad we won’t be going this year. Her place is usually over crowded and the only time we’re useful is when the dishes need to be done. Last year, she started her usual holiday day drinking earlier than normal and the turkey was somewhat dry because it stayed in the oven too long.

That brings back memories of my late mother’s chocolate creme pie. She wasn’t a chocolate person but her husband, kids, and multiple in-laws adored that pie. She made her own pie crust from scratch, using Crisco, then baked it. The bottom layer was chocolate pudding and the top layer was real whipped cream.

Well considering that Penn State was the latest victim of Michigan’s 2018 revenge tour, it’s appropriate.

There’s several on that list that seem like good ones to go after. Of course, Susan Collins should be on the top of that list, should she chose to run again. Cory Gardiner in Colorado seems vulnerable coming from a state that’s becoming increasingly blue. Jodi Ernst and Thom Thillis should also be included as Iowa

Your point about this being a warning to ALEC supported candidates is a great one.  Leah Vukmir, who was ALEC’s go to woman in the Wisconsin legislature, got beat badly by Tammy Baldwin in the Senate race.  Vukmir only had landslide numbers the conservative suburbs around Milwaukee and lost in the Green Bay area, the

I think he’d be a great VP choice for the 2020 Democratic ticket. My preference would be for one of the Midwestern Democrat Senators like Amy Klobuchar or Tammy Baldwin as the nominee. Baldwin just dominated Leah Vukmir, who is as conservative, if not more, as Mike Pence in most of Wisconsin outside her base of the

I’m honestly not sure how much actual physical tracking was involved to be perfectly honest. They activate engage in bear baiting traps to lure the bears to the area. I think most of the time was spent checking trail cameras via their phones or iPads and drinking beer.

I was glad I did my part to get rid of him last night. I hope the relatives that voted for him enjoy the bear steaks they got from the bear they “hunted”, i.e. baited earlier in the fall. An Evers administration may be reducing or eliminating licenses given to trophy hunts like black bears.

Thanks for highlighting Mandela Barnes.  He really is a great candidate and would be a welcome change after 8 years of Wisconsin’s version of Serena Joy.  Also, his fellow Democrat Tony Evers would also be refreshing after Scott Walker.

Most of Trump’s votes, even in states he won, came from more rural counties, not suburban areas. The exception would be the counties around Milwaukee, which are the conservative core of Wisconsin.

I still think that abortion and women’s right to control their own bodies are still potent wedge issues. Look at the various restrictions that have been put in place recently, including the Ohio bill banning abortion after a fetal diagnosis of Down Syndrome and latest fetal heartbeat law passed in Iowa this summer.

Most American Catholics don’t follow all the rules and policies of the church. Most are experts in cherry picking what they want to adhere to and what they disagree with.

I didn’t think it was appropriate either. The whole mess is one that hard to find anything to find funny about.
