*sigh* yes, but you'd have to sign in into your steam account on your friends PC to play your game. These people were not signed in with the account that they bought the game with.

Weird.... I already played this game as '1953 KGB Unleashed'... but it was more than half a year ago...and not on steam. Nice adventure game actually.
ah...I've got fond memories of this. This game and Laura Bow were my first favorite adventure games. I had the walk-through guide for GK and gave it to my girlfriend and asked her not to give me any hints... no matter how much I begged.

Steam stores information for offline play... if you shut down your computer or the battery runs out - without closing steam first- this information gets lost. If this data gets lost you cannot start steam in offline mode. Maybe that can be the problem?
