Despite my hatred of Harmony Korine, I rewatched Kids a few years back and it’s really quite a mild and not at all shocking movie. At least compared to the rest of his output.

I’m not going to watch this film, but it seems pretty typical, if somewhat more extreme, of a lot of Flemish films and TV. The subject matter is often extremely black with very little mitigating levity. Over the past few decades, there were several high-profile cases of child abuse and murder that left a permanent…
It’s a gorgeous film too. That doesn’t get brought up but Pasolini and Danilo Donati went out of their way on those sets and costumes.
I find Salo way more disturbing than 2 girls 1 cup personally. Said cup film is much more gross, but it’s not disturbing to me the way the themes of Salo are.
The oldest Millennials will be 40 next year.
People have begun pointing out to the point it is difficult to ignore: the current generation of you-the-suh are GENERATION Z. Millennials are already turning 30 and moving into middle management.
the evil twin, the vanished twin, was FLANDERS all along!
People like to mention “Salo” as this shocking film that attracts only depraved folks. And that’s probably true to an extent: there are folks who want to see ‘shocking’ acts and gross out stuff. But unlike this film and others, “Salo” was made by someone with legit talent who had something to say in the film and was a…
While Dutch is one of the languages spoken in Belgium, a person referred to as Dutch comes from the Netherlands (or more specifically the Holland region of the Netherlands).
Twin peaks - Leland Palmer (Killer Bob) and Maddie. Certainly more deserving of mention than Gilmore Girls…..
I'd like to add one more episode to this list - the "Twin Peaks" episode in which (SPOILERS!) Leland Palmer is revealed to be the murderer of his daughter Laura. The slow-motion sequence in which a Bob-possessed, raging Leland murders - brutally and slowly - Laura's lookalike cousin Madeleine (all while Laura's spacey…
How about the Futurama episode featuring the fate of Fry's dog?
The Six Feet Under finale is without a doubt the most emotional episode of television I've seen. The first time I saw it it left me in a funk for days. I just wanted to lay in bed. And "Breathe Me" has that same effect on me.
Ugh, I've been in a similar position to Dawn — having classmates witness something very private and devastating — and that part was hard to watch.
If LLL wasn't on this list, I was going to scream in protest. It is overwhelmingly good, devastating television.
Twin Peaks - Episode 14 : Where Laura Palmer's killer is revealed as well as *spoilers* cousin Maddie being murdered. I remember watching that episode with a group of friends and after it ended we were quiet for a while, just feeling bummed out. That murder scene is pretty horrific.
You could also argue for the Season…
Dawn breaking down in the hallway, us watching from the silent point of view of her classmates, is pretty devastating as well.
Dukie's sad story is at least counterbalanced with the scenes of Bubs finally being able to sit at the dinner table with his sister
ER's Love's Labor Lost is just devastating.
