This happens outside my local PP. So fucking gross and hypocritical.

Same! It’s great and low-pressure!
Not to brag, but my cat is the single most affectionate cat I have ever met. She always sleeps curled up next to my chest (and manages to always find a way into my bedroom when I shut the screen from the hallway; I don’t have a proper bedroom door) and lately she’s taken to burrowing under the covers. She loves the…
I know Delta has a non-rev dress code too, but theirs seems a bit more reasonable than United’s. That sucks that your husband’s coworker was reprimanded so harshly— that shouldn’t have happened in my opinion. I think that airline dress codes in general haven’t caught up to the times yet. No one dresses up in first…
Yes, but passengers also used to dress nicely in first class, which is why United/other airlines require pass travelers to dress up since there was the possibility that they would be seated in first class. Also I can understand United wanting pass travelers who were seated in jump seats, and therefore “associated”…
Oh definitely not.
I cannot get over how much Hannity talks over Koppel— a well-respected, white, male TV journalist. Like, if he’s willing to talk over Ted Freakin’ Koppel...imagine any black woman who has ever had the misfortune of interacting with Hannity.
I agree that they should have looked at the dress code rules and made sure their daughters were in compliance. But I also think that banning leggings is arbitrary at best since they are often built to be worn on their own these days and generally look fine with a blouse. I also think that dress codes should be less…
Yeah, pass travelers aren’t allowed to fly in jump seats anymore. At least not on Delta (I know a Delta pilot who said as much), but I’m guessing on most other airlines too.
And I do agree that a loose dress code is reasonable and that the family should have done better research as to what the girl could and could not…
Sheer leggings that are worn as bottoms on their own are a no-no everywhere, not just as a dress code. I agree with you there. But, for example, the admin staff in my office will often wear leggings under a tunic or blouse with nice flats and it looks polished and put together.
And I definitely won’t miss flying United. I much prefer Delta and Alaska. :)
True. They don’t say anything specifically about leggings though.
She was 10. I think your argument could be justified if we were discussing an adult.
I’m not saying all dress policies can’t be justified. In fact, as I said above, I think a reasonable one from the airline is understandable for pass travelers. But, I’m sorry, I think a 10-year-old should be allowed to wear leggings on a flight as long as they aren’t see-through or anything.
They’re not “dressy,” but the dress code for UA pass travelers isn’t dressy either. You aren’t required to wear business-casual anymore. And you can wear leggings with a tunic or blouse and it’s considered perfectly put-together by today’s standards.
I should clarify: I understand airlines having a loose, reasonable dress code for pass travelers— no looking too sloppy, no sleepwear, no profane messages on t-shirts, etc. But leggings are different today than they were even a couple decades ago. They’re overwhelmingly not considered sloppy by today’s fashion…
I totally understand there being a reasonable dress code (i.e.: don’t look sloppy, wear clean clothes, don’t wear a t-shirt with swear words on it, etc.) for pass travelers. They technically represent the airline. But leggings, particularly on a child, are very different than sweatpants in today’s fashion.
I fly United from the PNW to the deep South to visit my SO. I have the options of United, Delta, and American when I fly into that particular regional airport. I choose United because their layover hub is directly on the way to my final destination (whereas Delta would have a layover in ATL, which isn’t on the way,…
They will. And they’ll say “SEE?! The Democrats can’t come up with a good healthcare system! It’s all their fault!”
Weirdly enough I am also eating green tea Kit Kats at this very moment. They are the best candy ever.
