Ugh, you guys got to OPT IN? It practically took an act of congress to get them to let me OUT. Like, they were giving my mom serious potential-child-abuser shade.

It was a demonic apocalyptic hellscape for the tastebuds, an olfactory assault against all that is good and decent in my life (and my mouth), and each iteration remains amongst the great Dark Moments of my young life.
Dentist’s paste was unpleasant but not actively offensive. (Puking while having teeth cleaned sounds HORRIFIC, btw.)
No idea. For me, it was very rural North Georgia in the late ‘80s.
I don’t disagree on the large-scale public health sense, but on the personal sense, I STILL remember the moment I convinced my mom to sign the release form getting me out of it. Still had to smell it, but didn’t have to taste it anymore, at least.
Completely unrelated, but my (very rural, nigh “hick”) elementary school had what I assume was a fluoridation program called “Swish,” where they would roll around these little cups of pink mouthwash once a month.
Well, and you, of course. You and Hobbie and Wes.
Same here, except I want me some Tycho Celchu references.
I am so much more excited about this than I was about either Last Jedi or Force Awakens.

I have nothing to say against KJA as a person, and I’ve even found his original stories to be entertaining, but his EU stuff just did nothing for me; what he finds interesting to write about and what I find interesting to read about are just completely different things.
Allston was a better writer than Stackpole from a craft perspective. I also suspect he was a more careful self-editor.
Oh, I don’t like this news. I wish for absolutely all the best and most amazing things for you, but I don’t like the idea of not having you here.
See, I AM an 80s kid and I just can’t figure out the charm of goonies. Never have been able to.
You guys . . . read this out loud to my office, and they asked if it was MY list.
That’s a complicated answer (like almost anything involving producers). When it comes to the Weinsteins - Sometimes? Nothing, or very little. Sometimes? Major, major impact on casting, direction, production, marketing, and the life or death of the picture. It’s a quick google to find lots of stories about him rousting…
So much this.
I had no idea that I was missing this until you mentioned it. . . dammit, now I’m all homesick for my Rogues and Wraiths.
Oooh boy. You got it comin’ now.
Turns out that three years less a month later, I can’t even understand the comment I wrote, much less resolve the clarity issue in the article. Good work unraveling that!
