If you read the blog updates and comments, it seems they were really putting some effort into making a proper game.

Seriously, Warcraft I & II had a perfectly good story. Coulda made that into a really cool movie.
I don’t really like how they softened up the orcs so much post WoW.
Sure they can be nice *now* but their ultra-hardcore roots actually made them cooler, instead of less.

It’s funny how the game seems more scary with the old VGA graphics.

I’m playing the Japanese version of Birthright (and can read Japanese).
The character support conversations have a lot of character, but narrative bits are bone dry boring.
So yeah, I think the English version is better for that particular bit.
