My friend who went to Penn said they once were at an event, a good 15 years ago, that featured Donald Trump as a speaker. They said he was just as incoherent then as he is now. So unless Alzheimer’s has been taking its toll on him since the early 2000s...

That said: it’s been 3 whole weeks and DJT’s approval rating is at 42% or something, down from the high 40s before Inauguration. We’ll never convince his base, so there’s a floor on that approval rating, but I think we can scrounge around in our political sofa cushions and find some people who only know if politicians

*whispers conspiratorially* perhaps it is because what half his supporters wanted the most was a thing Clinton wasn’t criticized for, aka being explicitly racist and wanting to ban brown people *ssssshhhhhhhhhh*

Yup!

I think the main difficulty Uber is having is that Lyft is a nearly identical service with better PR. There’s no way this would convince people to stop using ride-hailing apps, but Uber doesn’t have a monopoly on the concept.

Counterpoint: choose a politically correct taxi (because actually this takes nearly negative effort) AND keep an eye on Pence (which takes a lot of effort)!

Can we all just stop watching CNN? I mean it. Find some alternative place to give your ratings to.

I don’t have a horse in this race because I use regular taxis on the rare occasion when I don’t take the subway, but my initial reaction was definitely, “Wow, what a clever PR coup; I wonder how many millions they will steal from Uber in business in exchange for the $1 million donation!”

I wasn’t speaking for myself; my parents left Asia in the 1980s, changing continents. It was a pretty big sacrifice, so I know about how easy or hard it is to move with the hopes of a better life, thanks.

Hmmmm I wonder where all the black people that all these liberal Californians commenting on this post purport to support live...

Let me rephrase that: “Tough shit. I’m tired of being Captain Save-a-Ho to all the working class African Americans being lumped in with knuckle-dragging mouth-breathing country, who have never left the red state they were born in and absolutely do not have the resources to relocate. It’s not the job of California,

I only disagree with this on the grounds that there has been a far too low cap on H1B visas for ages, that the GOP cut in half in 2004. The Statue of Liberty isn’t too sure about these educated brown and yellow people, after all...

I think you’ve really highlighted something, with the smaller marches, that I’ve been really excited by. Kara talks in this article about how she doesn’t trust the other marchers in the big cities; that is not an unreasonable fear. But I also want to talk about the many articles I’ve read with women in small towns who

According to Snopes, the originator of the bill for its first 14 years of not being passed was Ron Paul, so, uh, I’m not ENTIRELY willing to ascribe this to mainstream GOP extremism...
