Hasn’t this been the case in NYC for a while now? A lot of people’s qualms and/or hopes in this comment thread could probably already be evaluated.

Actually, I think it’s a positive sign that Northam won despite not being an amazing inspirational what-have-you. Dems did pretty much exactly as well as the generic Congressional ballot has been indicating. Don’t get me wrong, I completely believe in good candidate recruitment, but in the end, I’m with the Democratic

It sounds like the convention is representative of what I hope is a larger phenomenon, which I have seen reflected among people I know. People have been moving away from protests and towards getting firmly lodged into their new organizations to do the day-to-day work. To me, this is really important; protests, as many

I’ve been voting Kushner on all the Twitter polls, not because I think it’s him, but because I want to believe.

I tend to feel that the criticism of Gadot over IDF-related statements is a bit unfair. If a U.S. veteran went to Hollywood and made some supportive statements about the U.S. military in a time contemporaneous with drone strikes, I kind of doubt they’d be accused of supporting mass murder.

This is not 100% true; my parents are exceedingly good cooks and I still only ate vegetables begrudgingly as a young kid. However, I definitely came to like them as an older kid, so it still gets you acclimated earlier.

Honestly, this is a big part of the reason why I’m not that fussed if my hypothetical kids inherit my husband’s last name, which was hyphenated by his parents in a bid for gender equality. I didn’t change my name, because as far as I’m concerned, this is my name for eternity, but why make my progeny have to let on

I find I honestly do best at the gym if I had a big meal the night before and something to eat within 45 minutes of lifting.

Yeah, half of me is like “Embrace your inner Arya!!!” and half of me is wondering why the musical hook never quite gets off the ground.

Chinese-American here, and I feel the same way about our food. My white friend once asked me if she could borrow some ingredients for the internet-recipe dumplings she was making, in exchange for giving me some of them. I’m actually not sure if I’ve ever forgiven her for this slight.

Right??? What is with ex-Gawker’s obsession with sizzling hot takes since November???

Yeah, like, I don’t get this? What if there’s a 3% chance that 12 Republicans will cross party lines to make a bipartisan fix that will save lives? Can’t we save the big promises for, oh, I don’t know, 2020?

I don’t disagree, but I want to say, as someone who used to live in a red state, and who has always felt vaguely proprietary of my ex-senators despite thinking they’re scumbags: let the liberals in Arizona (and Alaska and Maine!) have this moment, guys.

If you have a little time during your lunch break or this evening, and have been frustrated because your senators are already voting no, you can help by calling people with potential key senators to remind them to call said senators: https://www.indivisibleguide.com/hubdialer-signup/.

If you’d like to help the cause (and, say, your Senator is a Dem), Indivisible Chicago is organizing a remote phone bank for contacting people with moderate GOP Senators to remind them to call:

One thing I’ve realized since getting involved (in a very small-league way) in local politics is that there are just tons and tons of minor, but influential-in-their-own-way, positions that basically get filled by anyone with enough incentive to find them and get involved. It’s also a great way to get to meet local

Question: to what extent do you think the culture is a symptom of being overworked due to a labor shortage (i.e. self-perpetuating)? I ask this because, as a grad student in an entirely unrelated subject, I hear about programs that greatly improved their grad program culture by doing things to, well, ease the stress

Not that I actually think being sweet and wonderful is a requirement for successful relationship eligibility (a bit of cussedness is in my opinion a good thing), but that was totally my first response hahahaha

If my Twitter timeline is any indication, there’s actually two kinds of The Grassroots, the kind that is actually trying to do something (Indivisible, etc.) and the kind that spends half their day bitching and moaning about semi-sourced gut feelings.

As someone who spent a relatively conservative amount on an upscale but reusable non-white-wedding dress and opted for a very small wedding so as to afford a honeymoon abroad: people are allowed to do what they want. We preferred to spend our money on seeing four thousand year old buildings, but other people would
