The engine weren’t that out of date for the time they were made, they had 5 valves per cylinder, closed deck etc. Titanium valves and conrods, biggest problem I saw was the oil pump was far to complex and likely to fail. The engine also had valve boxes above the head to hold the cam shaft etc which I don’t like. …

Here is a two photos of all the in the racks at my workshop, they are know as Subaru 1235 engines. As you can see there are plenty of original castings.

I have a a heap of the spare parts from the Subaru F1 race team for these motors, there are enough parts to build up 2 complete motors and also a number of bits to make part motors.
