It’s almost like Deadspin ignored the Sixers for a decade, then decided they were experts on something they never had any fuckin clue what they were talking about, and their readers had Stockholm Syndrome for believing every anti-Hinkie hit piece along the way.

It’s funny how these Sixers articles went from non-stop shitting on their method to becoming a contender to now acknowledging they have a good, young team as a result of Embiid and Simmons, the two studs they acquired through the process that those same articles shit on....

Considering they were wrong immediately, because they called a multi-year rebuilding process a failure in year 1 (which is by definition impossible), I doubt it.

Yes the players who resulted from the Process have nothing to do with the Process.

Really? Moron.

Hey dimwit. The first 55 games of their schedule had 64% against playoff teams. (It was higher until Detroit, Clippers “plunged”-Clippers still well above .500) Also, they are in the same division as Boston and Toronto, who they had to play 4 times, a home game thrown away by the league in London so they have a bunch

I hope they play and beat the wizards in the first round to really drive home how wrong Burneko has been about the Sixers

is the deadspin staff ready to revisit their stance on the process yet?

If you were building a team with young talent with significant upside, outside of Porzingus and the Greek Freak, Embiid and Simmons are next on that list - and on the same team. Injuries pretty much the only thing preventing them from that upside.

Well since they’re gonna get another top 10 pick this year or next, have cap space, and have Embiid, Simmons, and a few other good complementary players - beyond Fultz, as much as I hate to say it, the process is acutally working out o.k.

Except for Embiid and Simmons, sure buddy.

Stauskas started games....what more of a chance does he need?? a 3 point shooter, who cant shoot....yeah he’s good. He couldnt make it on SAC or PHL which were 2 of the worst teams in the league...where he had plenty of opportunities to play and he sucked. He got in a game the other night and looked completely lost.

I don’t understand why so many commenters on here refuse to understand that it was a numbers game. I’m not predicting any NBA championships, but the plan was to add as much young talent as possible and increase the odds of finding talent. Embiid, Simmons, Saric, Holmes and TLC all look like they will make important

“The plan” was to grab as many high picks as possible because it’s more likely than not that one single pick won’t produce a superstar caliber player. Literally the opposite of what most people believe the plan is (we are smarter than everyone and all are picks are belong to future All-NBA teams.) Or dopes like Albert

You’re right, hiring the Spurs director of player development to be the coach is definitely neglecting player development. If only any of Embiid, Simmons, Covington, McConnell, Saric, etc received proper coaching to expand their game. Alas!

ya, hard to disagree. That was an awful pick and that is where the Okafor conversation should end, not pretending what he can become now. However, most understood you wouldnt hit on all those top picks, it was a numbers game so pointing a miss isnt terribly incriminating either. There was even spin that Hinkie wanted

The team’s goal wasn’t tanking; the team’s goal was literally to develop young talent rather than castoff free agents earning near max contracts because “well, someone’s gotta get this money, might as well be Evan Turner.” They gave Okafor all the minutes he could handle, and brought in Elton Brand to try to help in

Robert Covington, TJ McConnell, Embiid refining his game.

Yeah. They ended up getting their guy in Embiid, if he can stay healthy. But imagine if they had him and Simmons and someone more useful than Trevor Booker to show for that draft pick.

Strawman. Hinkie did a good job and Okafor wasn’t a perfectly logical pick.
