Legit question - do all Harleys sound that loud? I was under the impression that a lot of buyers get loud exhausts fitted, but that the stock bike is relatively quiet.

That said I wouldn’t be surprised if dealers just installed loud exhausts on them as soon as they arrived.

Illinois did new plates every year till like 1977 - every year the date embossed on it changed (of course) and the colors were new. It’s a thing among classic car owners in this state to get a set of plates from the year your car was built to use at car shows (sadly you can’t use old style plates on a car legally).

Fun fact: the store I work at has a furniture item called “Lana”, and that is exactly how we would ask for it.

“I need a Lana. Lana! LAAAANAAAAAA!”

I love Aisha Tyler, but  I’d keep expecting to hear “Nooooooooope” every time someone got a wrong answer.

I’m not sure that selling vanity plates is all that much of a market here in the US. It’s not terribly difficult to get a vanity plate in pretty much any state, and if you can’t get the one you want, most people will either come up with an alternative or give up on the idea. It would have to be something really sought

Especially true of the earliest seasons. (I started with season one on MT, and only knew who like half the people were)

Also, I don’t know what you’re talking about regarding white vs yellow plates, or much of anything about comic books.

Okay, I’ll start over.

I can’t tell if you’re serious or not - but the value is in the registration number itself, that reads “New York”, and not the physical plate. That said, much like how old plates are worth a few bucks, just so people with classic cars can have appropriate plates for car shows, a 70's New York plate with that

Oh, man. Where to start.

Great article - “railway spine” is vaguely familiar to me (I’ve read a bunch of books about trains) but I never really researched it, nor made the conclusions you have. Thank you for writing it.

Oh, Cook! is quite good. Bonus I think I learned like three new recipes from it.

Nashville is worth visiting for a few days, just for the Lane Motor Museum and the food. I ate and drank myself stupid the last time I was there and didn’t even hit the touristy area on Broadway (which is kind of fun in it’s own right).

No, the Nova is one size too small, the GTO is an A-body. The GTO (and the Pontiac Tempest it’s based on) is related to the Chevy Malibu, Olds Cutlass, and Buick Skylark and their related models (like the Olds Vista Cruiser, that generation El Camino, etc.). I’m not sure they weigh all that much more than the Fords

I used to do it occasionally but I got a ticket for it a couple of years ago, so I stopped. My car doesn’t have hands free or anything so I have to actually hold the phone to call. (and it’s a pain cause the car is a manual transmission). $120 is plenty of incentive for me.

There is a strange bit of building recycling in my hometown. The Pizza Hut closed a long time ago - it’s been a couple of restaurants in that time but has been a Mexican restaurant for as long as I can remember (and looks exactly like a Pizza Hut). This thread prompted me to look up where the nearest PH is because I

I remember when it was the Keurigs (or some other coffee maker, I forget which now), and people (well, men mostly I think) were filming themselves smashing up their expensive coffee makers. There was a flurry of them, and I always imagined that these guys proudly showed off their videos and were immediately told to go

Proximity locks annoy me far more. I like to actually check if the door is locked, but of course it’s unlocked because I’m standing next to the car with the key. Similarly, because I live in a small house on a small suburban lot, I can’t leave a car in my driveway and have it be locked, because the key is pretty much

I don’t feel one way or the other about it, but every time I drive a car with pushbutton ignition, I either leave the key in the building I’m leaving (because I generally don’t carry my key around with me except when shopping, it’s not in my pocket at work or home) or leave the key in the vehicle when I get out if

In the US market? The big ones are
