They glom onto megastructures so they can stick their names on them.

This is timely, as I just went through my book collection and cataloged it.
As a British car owner, I have no idea where I’d be without Bentley manuals. they’re so good I even keep the ones for cars I no longer own, just in case I buy another. Saves me a few bucks!
I’ve said it before, but I would absolutely watch a sciency show hosted by Savage & May.
“Our Man In Japan” is also very good.
Oh, I like that idea. Set it up like one of those little portable jumper packs you can get, that plug into the outlet. Have the plug in the trunk or something, so you can fit a larger pack in there, plug in, drive to charging station or home. Failure to return battery results in a $400 charge to your credit card or…
Ditto, I’d written them off as gross for some reason till I stopped into one fill the car and use the restroom, and noticed the actual kitchen. Casey’s are pretty common the further west I go, so I’m familiar with them. Solid road trip lunch choice for me.
Like others said, Casey’s is often the only place in a lot of…
Ha, using the one at the hardware store has saved me so many times!
*we never flew on family vacations because we couldn’t afford it (in fact, we pretty much only took vacations east of the Mississippi, as there was less driving between places of interest). As an adult I’ve never had the kind of job where travel is required, and honestly I’ve never really been able to afford it anyway…
Back in June of 2007, I was flying to Los Angeles to visit my sister - this was my first visit and like only my second or third time flying*. I got a ride into O’Hare, had plenty of time to clear security, etc., and get to my gate. And it started to rain, a huge storm system that spread all the way back to the middle…
If it runs and the chassis isn’t complete garbage, I’d say it’s about the right price, maybe haggle a bit. I like it just for the fantastic, genuine 70's paint, which would have to be saved. Just change your name to Otto - oh, maybe this should replace the Changli? Torch?
Well, you really should dress in layers in the cold.
I would’ve loved the Cozy Roadster concept.
TIL you could buy a dune buggy kit through Sears. They really did sell everything.
A Man Card is an imaginary thing that you forfeit when you do un-manly things like hire someone to fix something for you, be a vegetarian, read books that aren’t by Tom Clancy, care about the clothes you wear, and buy a minivan. IE, something assholes say to feel better about themselves.
Yeah, I certainly never expected events held in Europe to have their start times coincide with prime time in North America - the current start times are really the best compromise, as it’s not hellaciously early anymore. And access is far better now than it was even ten years ago, never mind the 90's and early 2000's.

True, they are very basic feeling - if I drove a luxury car I’d probably notice that more, but I drive a Miata, which is pretty basic in the first place (plus the stock carpet feels super cheap, the Weathertechs feel much nicer by comparison).
You’re also looking at more exposure for both baseball players and NASCAR drivers. Baseball has 162 regular season games a year, and a lot of them are on television in both local and national markets - and they’re generally on at reasonable hours for an American fan to watch. Same with NASCAR, they have more races…
I have one word for you, my friend: Weathertech. My car came with a set that hadn’t even been used at that point, and I put them in the first winter, and haven’t swapped them out since. It’s super nice to not have to worry because I went hiking and forgot a plastic bag for my muddy hiking boots, just plop them on the…
There are some places here where I won’t leave a gap, mainly because they’re intersections where people are always trying to move over, so they get stuck half in front of you and half hanging into the other lane, blocking both. But generally I leave if not a full car length a good distance, so I can easily get around…
