I understand that things at SNL can get pretty cutthroat. If you can’t find a niche or a breakout character you won’t get written into sketches just so you can be on TV. If Luke Null can only play one type of character (and they’ve already got people who play them) and hasn’t managed to develop a character that could

By the sixties he wasn’t doing most of the actual work (if any), but iirc he did a bunch of the design - been a while since I read any of the books, I might go look it up tonight.

The custom lead sleds that came out of the Barris shop in the fifties are some of my favorites. But to I agree, the wacky seventies and later cars aren’t to my taste and tend to be pretty dated.

Oh, no way he’s in the cast next season. I can’t even recall seeing him in anything except that high school sketch that bombed. They’re not even using him as “guy picking up takeout who says thank you and leaves immediately so the shenanigans can start”, which is a bad sign indeed.

Thanks, I didn’t make it to the end of the show and he wasn’t obviously in the picture in the article.

Was Luke Null even at the rink? Or was he waiting patiently on the stage, because everyone forgot about him?

Did you read the article? He’s been tweeting about it. In fact he called it “his first new book of short stories in years”.

When I first heard the news about AIM shutting down, I considered starting a new account and logging into the service just to see what happened. Then I promptly forgot about it, much like AIM.

I don’t know what the market is in Europe but I want one nonetheless. Might still have a magazine poster of it somewhere

Isn’t there sometimes a financial reason to destroy prototypes? I’ve read about it happening in the past - tax or duty would be owed based on the value of the vehicle, and since it costs a lot to build a prototype or one-off dream car, they’re destroyed to avoid paying the tax. No idea if this is still a thing, though.

Not necessarily. Plus, if this car was used for some extreme testing they might be damaged or unduly worn. The risk of one of these punished components failing on a street car is too great.

So, I never watched the Apprentice, so never really heard her speak. So I ask - does she always sound like that? Like she’s practicing an accent or something? She just sounded completely unnatural.

AIUI, there have been calls for Peyton Manning to be questioned in this scandal.

CP for peeling flat black painted factory wheels. IME this is never a good sign - anything done to this car was probably done cheaply or wrong (or both).

This show has had some of the best written standup scenes I’ve ever watched outside of actual standup. I mean, the routines here just killed.

This show is pretty much perfectly cast.

Got to see the Smithereens this past September at a very small theater. Even though Pat did the whole show sitting down (and couldn’t play guitar, and had an arm in a sling) due to his injuries, he and the band still killed.

That’s exactly what’s happening - there was no other reason for the baby’s father who’s name I can’t be bothered to go look up to appear in the last episode.

Careful you don’t get any on your shirt. It stains.

I kind of like the style of the Smeg appliances (they sell a refrigerator that’s painted up in a giant goddamned Union Jack), but I know that the first thing I’d do is pry the letters off and go buy some stick on ones from an old American car so it says “DODGE” or “MACK” or hell even “RAMBLER”.

Hell, I know I’d just
