Ain't No Party Like a Third Party

G/O Media ownership is the New Coke of media - something nobody asked for making changes that nobody likes.

Here goes . . .

I’m 100% with AOC on this one, but I’m definitely unpacking my asbestos suit for when/if it happens and some third party gets a few thousand more votes than whatever (R - D) ends up being.

I use the Android Auto app on my phone while in my car, but the in-dash display in my car doesn’t support Android Auto, so I am just doing things on the phone screen. Is this update better for users like me as well?

The old guard Democrats and Republicans only care about gaining and maintaining power. They only care about doing anything beyond that if they’re getting paid for it (and I don’t mean their congressional salaries). So of course Pelosi doesn’t care about impeaching Trump or the rape accusation against him - there’s

Mr. Perot was obviously a huge figure in the world of third party politics even if he was a wee bit touched (no buddy, the Black Panthers are absolutely not trying to assassinate you). Even though the Republican/Democrat friendship machine that is the Commission on Presidential Debates didn’t make their debate access

That’s not what happened here though. What happened here was that the US bombed a facility where war wounded from both sides of the conflict were being treated. The army wasn’t holed up there, we just decided to nonchalantly blow some doctors up. WE were the assholes & madmen.

isn’t it a good thing that we have cheap, surgical, specific ways to check our enemies

Now playing

National politics: it’s all just Sam Sheepdog & Ralph Wolf

Gotta tell ya bud, if the best this version of democracy has to offer is “decidedly shitty” vs. “unabashedly evil”, maybe it’s time for it to die.

People are still going to vote for him come 11/2020 tho.

Possibly. Probably, maybe. Never know until we try though!

Doesn’t that Pride wallpaper look like it’s celebrating Democrat Pride and not just, ya know, Pride? I mean, I don’t know a lot of 20-somethings, but do they really want Democrat Pride or (shudder) partial photos of Trump as their wallpapers instead of pictures of their cats like us olds have?

Honestly, at this point I feel like we just elect people every few years to yell at each other, not do anything.

This guy has more flip-flops than a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Oh don’t get me wrong, I vote third party in national elections too, mostly to help them crack the 5% of the popular vote that gets them federal matching election funds. But I think ignoring local & state elections is a mistake - that’s how you get people familiar with other parties & keep them in the public eye more

No worries, I get what you’re saying & I know a lot of people do vote third party to send a message to the major parties specifically. I’m more trying to upend the whole system, both through voting & other means (canvasing for lower-level office third party candidates, ballot questions meant to increase ballot access

I mean, I don’t think my standards are impossibly high. Like I said elsewhere, if Warren is the Democratic nominee, they’ve got me. Even so, the national Democratic Party will never make an effort to reach me, because I live in a state where the outcome is never going to be in question. If there’s success in getting

Nah, there are other reasons aside from winning. For one, 5% popular vote in the general gets the party federal matching funds & we know that like it or not, money is vital to election success. Nobody realistically expects this horrible two-party system we have now to get flipped overnight, but there are things we can

Only once in the last 30 years has the margin of victory in my state been under 20% and things have only gotten more polarized since. My assumption seems pretty safe & I’m not really swayed by internet randos calling me an idiot. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
