Again, I'm not saying that it can't work. I'm saying that defaulting to "natural is better!" is a fallacy. It's not. If something works, it works. But just because it's "natural" doesn't mean it's better.

I'm not arguing against "natural" remedies or treatments. I'm arguing against the fetishization of "natural" as "superior." Go for what works. If there are studies, then great. But don't assume "natural" means "less harmful."

It's kind of funny to me how many people on here go on and on about "natural!" versus TEH CHEMICALS without a shred of understanding of the underlying science.

For the record, I'm in favor of anything that works. I just get frustrated when people blindly ascribe to the "it's natural!" argument.

Aw, that sounds kind of shitty, sorry. I mean, I can see why in the big picture but the sandwich wasn't even aimed at you! Funny how the nurses have apparently been deemed impervious to influence though..

Let's assume that it was that and not something else. (we can only assume, given the lack of double-blind evidence)

Oh I agree that not all doctors are awesome, but the naturalistic fallacy drives me bonkers. And so few of these "treatments" are legitimately studied.

I can't wait until we start doing "natural" surgeries - anesthesia free!

The problem remains that we have NO idea if this stuff worked. Or didn't work. Or made things worse.

Ask about natural remedies.
