I thought this might have been the weakest episode of the show. Jonah realizing he could make political hay by attacking Selina was pretty great, but the bailout plot was weak and didn't really make sense. Ianucci was great at taking a trivial political issue and turning it into a 5 alarm crisis. This episode

2026, you mean.

I liked this one more than last week's episode, too. The comedy in this one was less broad, which I think works better for the show.

Carter was President until January of '81. Ben could have switched parties at some point, too.

$20 a week is ~$1,000 a year. How long did the dad own the store? A decade and a half of that gets you to $14,000. It's not unreasonable to think that most of the money went to wandering grifters.

Also, "mater familias" is an o brother nod, i think.

How are you going to keep them on the farm once they've seen Sioux Falls?

Which is really weird, considering the extent to which the constituencies of those two parties overlapped.

Oh, right. I was referring to Ianucci's shows. I should have written that more clearly. Yes, Minister is a lot more coy than either Veep or TTOI.

I just assumed that Selina had enough of the party machinery and money on her side, more or less by default, to eke out enough primary wins in a 3 person race.

True, though it's pretty obvious which party is which in both shows if you pay attention.
