Tell you what, why don’t you pay $300k for a medallion and tell me how you feel then?

Just dispatched a group of guests who checked off from our hotel via taxi (their request). The ragtag collection of cabbies and their cars made me shudder. Regulations? These guys wipe their asses with them. Probably have current insurance (chances your car is towed if they catch you w/o insurance) but that’s it.

Not sure if you saw this graph in a couple other articles today.

Some things to keep in mind:

I’m reading through these comments and it’s almost as if none of the people saying, “DUH, competition taxi drivers!!” has any understanding of the fact that taxi cabs are licensed & regulated in a completely different (and way more expensive way) than Uber and other “ride sharing” services.

Oh my gosh, two articles a month about a major tire manufacturer getting people killed. That must be so hard for you to put up with.

Goodyear’s negligence has killed people, and Jalopnik should report on every single aspect of this until they’re properly held to account for their actions.

You actually believe the priveledge of coming to our country RIGHT NOW WITH NO WAITING is more important than our safety?

You are safer in the US from refugees and immigrants than you are from your own citizens.

Also, privilege is being born here and then lording it over like it was earned rather than luck.

Dude, the current (or prior) vetting process required lots of waiting. There was a vetting process in place for refugees and visas. No one is advocating for a system where refugees and visa applications are not vetted. That’s not what we had and that’s not what anyone wanted.
