I have been interrupted mid-sentence by men telling me I was not allowed to interrupt other people when I had not, in fact, interrupted anyone. When we try to talk like men, we get loudly reprimanded for it and thought of as a mouthy bitch.

Studies also show that men think women speak MORE than they actually do - as the post says,
This effect is not limited to the male Justices: the male advocates also regularly interrupt the female Justices. This is surprising, both because the Court’s guidelines explicitly prohibit advocates from interrupting Justices, and because the Chief Justice is supposed to intervene when this occurs.
Not all women can tolerate birth control, and men should have an effective way to insure they aren’t relying on women to prevent pregnancy, especially in causal sexual encounters. This isn’t about you.
You can look fantastic while wearing something functional! :) These swimsuits look like they’re super uncomfortable (if you have bigger boobies, at least).
I sometimes think about how other, less obvious areas are impacted by gender and race bias.
Case in point: I bet most contraceptive methods were developed by men - if only because women were prevented from pursuing higher education not long ago. So they focused on what was either easier for them - condoms - or would…
As much as I see men complaining about the possibility that they might have to someday pay child support, I’d expect them to work harder on this.
...through your seminal fluid. No, this doesn’t cure all STDs for all time. But it is kind of a big deal for the prevention it does afford.
Actually, the last numbers that U.S. soccer released indicated that they generate more revenue than the men’s, and that they were paid a smaller share of the prize money that the team received. It’s been covered before here.
According to Sports Illustrated, the USWNT is projected to make a $5 million profit through this year, whereas the men are projected to lose $1 million. This is an off year for both Olympic and World Cups for both teams. The USWNT revenue in 2015 was inflated by the World Cup win, but the USWNT consistently brings…
in the last few years the USWNT actually created MORE revenue than the men’s team for USSoccer. by your logic the women should be paid more than the men. Try again
Most people I know go to pool parties to get in the pool. You know, swim, play water volley-ball, play chicken, ect. It’s hard to do anything even remotely active when your whole outfit is basically a spiderweb made of floss.
This is a good breakdown:
You’re probably not as much of an outlier as you think. :P Plenty of men don’t like confrontation, and plenty of women aren’t afraid to speak up. And negotiation can be uncomfortable regardless.
Obviously there’s a lot of factors that go into it that apply to either gender, like stamina for confrontation, effort needed…
“This isn’t just a guy thing.”
Female here. Federal government employee which means salaries are public.
Your experience is why so many men have the illusion that the workplace is a meritocracy. You think that because you asked and received, everyone could. Please consider (and actually take time to read the above article?) that you are still benefiting from the fact that you are male, and that others cannot simply…
I’m not trying to jump all over you, but it looks like that you missed in the article for a rather large percentage of the time, even if a woman does attempt to negotiate, she’s seen as difficult and out of control versus when men do it, they’re seen as ambitious. So you have a serious problem of the culture itself…
Yeah the thing that pisses me off about the “just negotiate” BS is that it puts pressure on women to feel like they HAVE TO ask for more even when it isn’t needed/isn’t possible. I learned that the hard way not long ago, when I asked for a higher salary when offered a new job- not because the offer wasn’t good but…
To be honest we shouldn’t have to negotiate period. Transparency is key, if companies published how much each position made there would be no wage gap issues. Oh, you want to be our new Sys Admin? Well all Sys Admin’s here make 55-60k depending on years experience. You want more money? You need to get a different job.…
