Watching women who had to live without the right to vote and simultaneously watching young girls watch the first woman be a major party candidate.... I’ve been very emotional this election cycle

They weren’t. They were bitching about him over email. The only email that appears to suggest any effort to undermine him - the one about bringing up his religion - was never implemented. We know this, because we went through the primaries and IT NEVER HAPPENED.
When even a hardcore Bernie supporter can admit that the email “controversy” is complete bullshit, then everyone just looks fucking stupid.
Also, the Bernie or Busters who are under the delusion that this will force Clinton to pass up the nomination seem to have conveniently forgotten that, no, Bernie was not nice to the DNC, ever. His team hacked the DNC server early on, they called the DNC and DWS “the establishment” that needs to be destroyed from DAY…
I think this response is astute, though I still push back a bit. Yes, Beyoncé’s video was spectacular and institutional racism is present in award wins. Yes, Kanye and Minaj are right in critiquing that, but Minaj did it better and owned T. Swift in that debate. But I can’t help but think that there is some room to…
Oh, please. It was deliberately demeaning. If Kanye were a white woman, would he get a pass for being a sociopahtic asshole? No.
(Two party systems are kind of terrifying to me.)
Yep. Conservative congress ratings sites rate Kaine as more liberal than Sanders, based on senate voting records? True!
Kaine also personally opposes the death penalty, a stance equally based in his Catholic faith. Yet when he ran for governor of Virginia in 2005 and his GOP opponent tried to use that against him, he countered by saying that the same Catholic faith that leads him to personally oppose the death penalty also obligates…
Being pro-choice means that even if you wouldn’t make that choice for yourself, or even if you wouldn’t advise a loved one to make that choice, you still believe that all women deserve access to a choice.
Yes Sqarr. Positivity is what we need right now. Kaine is good, his politics match up a lot with Obama and he might help sway moderate independents who are squeamish about Trump/Pence to the Dems.
He is *not* an anti-abortion candidate. He may be personally pro-life but he stands for choice in office. 100% rating from Planned Parenthood, 100% from NARAL.
Just a reminder that back in ‘08, when Obama picked Biden, everyone was like “That boring old white dude?” And now we’re all like UNCLE JOE PLEASE DON’T LEAVE US.
Patriarchy is toxic to society at large, even if some individuals (all of whom are men) benefit in terms of their power, influence, and wealth. If a very powerful and privileged man in an especially patriarchal society feels he has no choice but to behead his daughter for falling in love with someone who wasn’t chosen…
My first thought on reading your post was “Did...she just All Lives Matter honour killings?” I see your point, but it’s right there in the name that these are murders. These are murders carried out for specific ideological reasons, and need special measures to address. We need some way to distinguish them from regular…
Take the fundamentalism away, you will still have misogyny.
This is what the upper classes in some countries want the foreigners to believe,”the situation for women is not so bad in Dubaï, Saudi Arabia , Iran, Turkey, they have make-up and IG too” Well gues what she is still dead, and money has never been a sign of openess, see all those rich fuckers in the bible belt.
I’m sure you would apply the same logic to ‘hate crimes’. Why call them hate crimes when it’s just murder, plain and simple. It’s because it’s a specific type of crime committed for specific reasons, and tied to specific cultures and a specific religion.
Our patriarchal society and the idea that men “own” women stems from our own Judeo-Christian upbringing. I’m not saying that hatred of, or violence towards, women needs religion to exist, because clearly it doesn’t. But it is a huge factor in legitimizing it.
“Thought she was being overdramatic.”
