I’m starting a PhD in STEM this fall, and am SO dreading that. Being assertive is just not in my nature, at all, and I have to consciously work at it. Hillary is kind of my hero because of how tough she’s been over the last 30 years dealing with all the patriarchal bullshit. Thanks to her, and women like her, and the

There’s also a great little implicit assumption in there that she couldn’t possibly have this many women employees in a situation where she simply hired the people best suited to the jobs.

Sure. Of course. Hillary only has so many women staffers because it looks good, it surly can’t be because they were actually qualified for the damn job, can it? Of course not.

Thanks for reasonable responses, and for not being someone that’s so entrenched in this rhetoric that they won’t vote for Hillary if she does become the nominee.

You're right that it is a matter of priority, and someone in another thread expressed this really well....income inequality and campaign finance are important

This kind of sexist bullshit diminishes ALL women.

Warren’s radio silence at this point is tantamount to a tacit endorsement of Hillary. She doesn’t want to disappoint her fervent followers and damage her own credibility with them by openly endorsing Hillary when Bernie still has a heartbeat because she hopes to draw on those fervent followers (the clear majority of

I don’t disagree with any of what you just said, but I do think that it’s a perfect illustration of why diversity matters. You admittedly have had a blind spot on diversity in your writing - Bernie appears to have a blind spot on diversity in his top level staff (and other areas as well but lets focus on this one for

I guess I’m just tired of Bernie folks saying everything Hillary does is contrived and that she doesn’t care about women. I’ll be devastated if Hillary doesn’t win the nomination, but that won’t stop me from voting for Bernie. He’s a good man who has dedicated his life to public service. He’s not perfect and he’s just

This is an unweighted raw average, so a discrepancy that small means nothing. Given that there are more women than men overall on her staff, there could easily be more women than men among the lower ranks / entry level positions , pulling down the average slightly.

On the one hand, it's good that he responds to issues like this when challenged on them. On the other hand, I just know that if this were Hillary then her fixing it after being challenged would be considered disingenuous pandering. And on the mutant third hand, it's kinda worrisome that he has to be challenged first

you are awesome!! This is exactly why we need more representation of women and minorities in positions of power!

It’s almost like *gasp* she actually means the shit she says in regards to gender equality and wants to promote it.

See, even though the job titles and responsibilities are the same, men are probably doing the jobs better and therefore deserve more pay. It’s not a wage gap if they’re doing a better job.

Right? LOLOLOL And people keep telling me gender doesn’t matter. Go on Hillary you keep doing the do while everyone tries to say they’re feminists - you’re actually PAYING the women. Go on Hill!

Hmmm, women in positions of power hire more women. LOOK AT THAT!

I really hope that you are serious with this post. I am so fucking tired of this tirade against Hillary like she’s the devil or something. I am not anti Bernie - I’d vote for the guy - but yeah, I am very supportive of Hillary. Misspeaking about the Regan’s record, which she quickly apologized for, seems to be equated

For me, I need her to not apologize hours later. That’s what makes the difference to me, recognizing that you effed up and acting right quick to correct it.

I love how all these people are now so hopping mad at someone trying to be kind at someone’s funeral. The shock and awe hyperbole happening here is stunning and expected considering that they just learned Bernie supported racist Minutemen in his “progressive” career.

This article is odd in that it seems to merge whatever Ronald Reagan believed and thought about HIV and AIDs into what Nancy thought. And somehow that is all now the fault of Clinton.
