The two characters and actors have chemistry to spare. Yes, that includes romantic chemistry. The writers backed off solely because they didn’t want a gay subplot. If one of the characters had been a woman that romance would have happened no matter if it was doomed or not. They should have gone for it. It made sense

Your thinking of Catholics, Wells is Anglican.

About 4th grade, when a kid wanted to say Dickweed but didn’t want to curse.

No, no - This could be the escape she needs! There’s nothing better than taking the leap directly from ultra-Christian purity film straight to dark witchy pagan-inspired tv shows with teenage sexuality and probably some amount of murder (if Riverdale is anything to go by)!

They should totally bring Melissa Joan Hart back as one of the Aunt! After all, what is she doing these days?

Wait, this show is REAL?! I thought it was some elaborate gag io9 invented.

That goddamned bit with Rorschach and the German Shepard’s always sneaks up on me. My brain can’t figure out if I should laugh or scream “OH GOD.”

Well, they have the theme song done at least.

The Secret Service always struck me as the most perfunctory Mark Millar series. Most of his books follow loosely the same formula: a frustrated member of the lower middle class escapes from life’s daily indignities into an amoral fantasy world where anything goes but then faces a moral reckoning when this carefree

My personal feeling is that his best work came when he was collaborating with much better writers, but YMMV. :)

TL;DR “Anything Mark Millar writes benefits greatly from having someone who isn’t Mark Millar rewrite it”? :)

and rape has always been illegal

Are you trying to say there’s something wrong with the lessons we’ve been teaching about consent since childhood?

The nice thing about end credit scenes are that they provide some added content and context to the story... even if it’s just to tell the audience that the film really is over.

For a lot of violent rape, sure, this is the case. Dudes who assault a stranger at weapon-point or whatnot know they’re doing something wrong.

But they are WAY outnumbered by the run-of-the-mill guys who are told their whole lives things like “oh just get her drunk and she’ll sleep with you”. To them, they aren’t

Wrong again. It means there’s a significant contingent who know that rape is wrong but don’t know what actually constitutes rape, contradicting your unsourced claim. Everyone can read what it says.

In 99% of rapes, the person doesn’t think they are doing something that society is okay with.

But not really. Statistically speaking, the gun is far more likely to be stolen than used successfully in self-defense. There’s also the problem that you’re not likely to have it at the ready in the most likely rape scenario- hanging out with someone you know and trust.

All these product concepts seem good for is generating buzz and sending entirely the wrong message to both men and women.

Yay? How many times does this make it?
