I have a friend who stopped a sexual assault, and he says it’s a difficult thing to for him to deal with (though far less difficult than for the actual victim, of course). While he knows he did the right thing and did the best he could, he just wishes so badly that he could have entered the room just a few minutes

In the dark. As they rode by. They see the activity behind the dumpster. Something seems wrong about it to them. They turn back to investigate. They intervene. They call for help. They hold the perpetrator until the authorities arrive. They provide eyewitness testimony. They don’t seek the limelight, in fact they shun

I feel so strongly for these men. In her letter she writes that one of them was so overcome with tears that he could hardly speak after he found her. It’s clear that they experienced a lot of heartache during this process themselves.

Seriously, these guys are amazing. Unfortunately because of some psychological reasoning or whatever, people aren’t inclined to help others. But these guys did and they truly are heroes for it.

I think she is saying that it was rape, but it wasn't rape-rape.

The little fact that got me was that one of the guys who found her couldn’t give his statement when the police arrived because he was crying so hard. There is a man who was assaulting an unconscious woman and his family and friends keep telling us how good a guy he was and then there is a man who chased him down and

Um, but Vikings, though.

Everything about this case makes me so angry, but hearing this makes it slightly better. Just look at his lil face!

One of the guys who helped her was found sobbing when the police got there because he was so upset about what he saw. Let’s dwell on that for a second. Mr. Rapist Brock Tuner tried to claim it was consensual but when two guys found them, Convicted Rapist Brock Turner started to RUN and one of the guys who found them

Not only that, but one of them was apparently appalled enough by what they saw to be sobbing when they gave their statements. Totally sounds like a misunderstanding, right? Political correctness run amok?

“[...] rape on campus isn’t always because people are rapists.”

Cool Girls have that special~~ brand of internalized misogyny though! “I’m not like those feminazis who punish male sexuality—I’m a Cool Girl!”

Both? Cool Girls got all the internalized misogyny.

She’s a ‘good girl’ who is ‘too smart’ to ever let herself be raped. Guaranteed she says shit like that.

The people around him sound like the affluenza kid’s parents. The way this girl talks is like the old timely rape laws that required a victim to demonstrate that she resisted (so an inebriated victim was never considered a real victim.)

I’m a man who has been blackout drunk many times. Even with serious “clouded judgement” moments there was never a time where I thought “I should have sex with this unconscious girl”. You either have morals or you don’t. He doesn’t.

I believe the arrest and conviction was based on the testimony of the woman who was raped and the 2 men who caught him in the act. Just that.

I have hit the gas thinking it was the brake once or twice, albeit for just a split second and realizing what was happening before anything got damaged. It scares the shit out of you.

Luckily it’s entirely an optional experience.

I remember the good ol’ days when if you crashed you just blamed Pastor Maldonado. Now things are so complicated...
