That part really does suck. I think it’s finally over, after several months. Maybe!

The best part of “A League of Our Own” was watching the outtakes at the end, when the real old lady players still had more baseball chops than the Hollywood actresses they found to play them.

She was born Christmas Day, 1925, so she was 19 for the 1945 season. I wonder how old most of the players were? A League of Their Own made them seem older, but that is clearly because the filmmakers wanted established actresses. The real life Racine Belles were unlikely to be in their mid 30's like Madonna and Geena

There’s no crying in baseball.

If it makes you feel better, great. But Johnny Depp is not the only person who worked hard on those movies nor is he the only person who profits from them and there is no reason why you can’t enjoy them if you choose to. ETA: Like if a cashier at your local Starbucks turned out to be a wife-beater, you wouldn’t stop

I understand why O’Toole may be bitter but if you think you’re getting shit on and you want to find out where it’s from, look up not down.

So she said “11 or 11:30" would be her ideal time slot. Fox Sports Live airs from 11-11:30. Seems like there is a perfectly reasonable way to accommodate both programs without O’Toole accusing Nolan of aiming to take his job and starve his kids based on a passing reference to an ideal time slot.

If you think Dan is pissed, imagine how angry his viewer must be.

Hey Dan O’Toole, I didn’t realize that you thought television was a charitable industry in which programming decisions were made based on whether or not someone has children. Would you mind not being such an asshole in the face of someone else’s ambition and success? Thanks!

Not sure if you got an answer yet, but I believe she was taught that unmarried “sex” (in this case, rape), made a woman used and dirty, like an old piece of chewing gum - something along those lines. It led to her not calling out to her rescuers, even though she heard them calling her while searching for her, because

I don’t know what her religious stance is now but I seem to remember that she was pretty adamant that she saved herself. There were no angels. Her book ought to be required reading in every school.

I suspect part of it is because those moral offenses are black and white. Either she admits she drank alcohol or she didn’t; you can drop the hammer without putting too much thought or assessing issues like consent and credibility. The fact that these rules discourage people from coming forward is probably appreciated

Fortunately she did not have the hideous experience Elizabeth had but proud mama here - youngtodaysfreshhell is a victim advocate at a DV shelter, counselor and a rape crisis responder - goes to the hospital with victims of rape and DV. Nothing she could do could make me prouder and Elizabeth Smart was one of her

*standing ovation*

So great. My fingers are crossed that having Elizabeth Smart weigh on the shit-storm BYU has created will actually result in more people listening and maybe actually taking action.

Elizabeth Smart is one of many women that I just bow down to in awe. Something that horrible would cripple me for a lifetime and yet she has managed to not only overcome it but use it to help, inspire and anger others. There is nothing about this incredible individual that I don’t stand in total amazement of.

To speak out against anything BYU-related is incredibly bold and courageous for a Mormon, especially a Mormon woman. Good on her for maintaining her faith, yet calling it to task when it's necessary.

This is literally the only show I would ever watch on Fox News. Elizabeth Smart is so strong and has devoted herself to trying to better the lives of victims of sexual assault. She seems like an absolutely fantastic woman & I am glad she has a platform to continue to advocate for victims.

Between this and her appearance on Nancy Grace’s deplorable show a few years back, she seems to have lived up to her namesake.

I admire Elizabeth Smart so much for all the advocating she does for women and girls who have been raped. She's a strong woman.
