My sense is that Ariel’s mom is a Dina Lohan wannabe so let’s stop acting like she has anything of value to say. I also sense that, whether because of her mom’s parenting or just the combined flukes of the universe, Ariel isn’t a person of high moral fiber and character, which isn’t awesome but also isn’t a crime.

He’s a white guy writing for a women’s site. It’s totally his right to crap on the very few things that Jez readers could identify with as teens. Why is a man writing for this site again?

Not to derail too much, but schools are empowered to expel and discipline students for things they do off campus, depending on the severity of the act or crime. Some of my classmates once robbed a pharmacy (so it was a drug-related theft) and our public school expelled them.

You know that annoying Christian spiel about “hate the sin, love the sinner”? I find it’s actually...a great way to live. I don’t have to like what you do, but I’m gonna let you do it, because you probably don’t like everything I do.

Just quote the opening of Law & Order to them. That or the speech from Independence Day. That’s what I do when my brother tries to tell me everything that ever happened on Ali G.

I think pretty much everyone on the internet can relate to how fun it is to be in a fandom and how exciting it is to see your fave in real life. We’re all hurting for this one.

I’m talking about how sites like Jezebel, xoJane, and Into the Gloss have gay men as featured writers despite being outlets that were implicitly created to reflect the voices of women and to provide jobs for women. I’m talking about shows like Kimmy and Girls starting out as voices for unconventional women and

I think it’s time to have the uncomfortable conversation about how and why feminist/women-friendly spaces have become dumping grounds for gay men. Jezebel is included in that.

“I Kissed a Girl” was basically a Lita Ford metal track. Katy’s voice isn’t well-suited for the mid-tempo electronica stuff she’s trying to sell lately.

I just can’t imagine trying to produce enough good music to justify the hoopla. I dabble in music and I’d say I’m fairly good songwriter. Or I could say, I’m as good as anyone else who’s out there as a hobbyist on weekends. I come up with maybe four new good songs a year and that’s a lot, comparatively speaking. It’s

I worked in radio when Katy’s first promo singles went out and at the time she was working a spunky Lily Allen look. Then Amy Winehouse started getting attention so Katy was re-styled as the “safer” pinup froot loop. The b-side to the “Ur So Gay” (ugh) single was a cover of “Use Your love” and it’s awesome. Her voice

I honestly don’t know where I fall in that particular debate, but my point is that America’s approach to business doesn’t lend itself to a more “European” methodology when it comes to paying for benefits and leave. It’s like when US gas prices went up in 2002 and Europeans couldn’t help but tell us that their gas

Listen, America needs to work on a lot of this but I never see anyone acknowledging America’s unique view of entrepreneurship. Somewhere along the line, we decided that small business and enterprise were important parts of the American national character. Unless we all want to be working for Fortune 500 corporations,

So much of the show’s early criticism came from NYC writers who were trying to validate their jealousy by acting like they could have written a better NYC show.

Why are we acting like SXSW controls all of the rules and regulations concerning visa violations? No employer or organization owes any protection to people who travel to work for them and then...don’t do the work properly. Additionally, SXSW has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not US immigration authorities

I realized I was considered lower-income once my academic peers started falling into long-term relationships and I was shut out of that social circle.

Plus, it’s not a strike if you decide on your own not to go in to your non-unionized job.

Yeah I feel for any small business/franchise owner who found themselves understaffed. Screwing them over is soooooo missing the point.

So these people just...didn’t show up to work? Of course they got fired.

I remember that the elastic on my Samantha doll’s bloomers wore out relatively quickly and eventually stopped staying up. It’s not a question of quality. It’s just what happens when a thin elastic band is stretched and used every day for multiple years. I would not have minded some other solution to the falling
