It was a satirical remark.

Jeez can we all be a little less literal today please.
I don’t know anybody but Hampstead Mums who talk about state schools, except when talking in the context of state vs public schools.
Looks like they work a bit like the toboggan runners they have in NZ - the break is a dead-man system where you have to pull back for the wheels to run free, and if you let go it brakes.
This is important to note. Division in the UK is less about race than it is about class.
It’s “the UK”, not Great Britain. Great Britain is a geographical entity, i.e. an island. The political entity is the United Kingdom.
Because before them, in the middle-ages, you could only be privately educated. Then, they opened schools that were open to the public (although you had to pay). The “public” means open to anybody with the means to pay for it, not as in the modern sense. Free schools in the UK are just called “schools”.
This has made my whole week. Off to peer inside right now.
Yeah, but media sf has external rules imposed upon it - what is an isn’t legal to show, for example. SF never paid those rules much mind, once old John W Campbell lost his influence.
Almost all Heinlein from Stranger onwards. “I Will Fear No Evil” was entirely an examination of gender identity, and the Lazarus Long and related books were full of maleable gender.
A straw gay couple, if you will.
You know it’s going to turn out to be the janitor who’s trying to get the store closed down so he can buy the site cheap because of a real-estate deal. Now gimme my goddamn scooby-snack.
Scooby-doo never had any real ghosts in it. It was a completely rationalist show. The ‘ghost’ was always the janitor, or the bloke from the theatre or some such scam. In not one single episode of the classic episodes were there any genuine supernatural phenomena.
It doesn’t have a ghost. Ghosts don’t exist.
It’s such a fucking bleak world-view. Seems anti-life to me.
Not to quibble, but 150 years is not “very old”.
The winner’s idea was for a games controller which harnesses kinetic energy from thumb action using wind-up triggers.
His accent is my accent and I still definitely would.
Attractive single cop teams up with a guy who’s the devil and solves crimes. Attractive single cop teams up with a guy who’s a medical examiner and immortal and solves crimes. Attractive cops teams up with medical examiner who’s a zombie and solves crimes. Attractive single cop teams up with attractive single author…
I don’t think the problem is that it’s a bad score. In fact, it’s quite a good score. It’s got a lot of subtlety and heart. At least it’s not just tones and bwaaams all the way through as is the current trend. I just don’t think it’s a very good Star Wars score.
