Based on things I’ve heard her say before, I’d say this is definitely it.
I think she gets a bad rap. She’s very talented and passionate, and some people don’t know how to respond to that level of conviction. She reminds me of friends I had in high school that were very into theater (and still are). Very smart, talented, and passionate, but without the proper amount of ‘cool’ to offset it…
Glad to help! Welcome to the Midwest! This is the first year of the event, I am excited to see how it goes. I too am dragging my SO.
My theory is that it’s because ModCloth has now anticipated the annual flood of shoppers seeking 20s era clothes, so they have a ton of art deco-ish stuff right now. (Source: me looking for 1920s era clothes because Detroit is having it’s first Gatsby-esque lawn party)
For me it’s what she does with her eyes! I’ve never been that enthralled by an actor’s performance since.
I would have only wanted to be younger when I had mine for the sole reason that I would like to be a younger grandparent (like my mom) to help out more! :) BUT on the flip side, she is too young to retire so she also still works.... uggg...we just need to be rich...
When I was 26 my cousin who is 13 years older than me had a toddler and a newborn. So, she was 39. We were talking about babies and how I wanted them soon. We visited her one day and she took me by the shoulders and with tears in her eyes said, “Have them young, save yourself, HAVE THEM YOUNG. I feel like shit every…
Ha! I say something similar, but I warn them that having children is like having a permanent hangover. So, there’s that... ;)
No one should tell you when to have kids, but it is helpful to see information on what it’s really like so that, if you are in the position to do so, you can fully weigh the pros and cons. I feel like right now people really trump up having kids when you’re older, which makes rational sense for financial and stability…
I’m half joking, half serious. And I’m crying on the inside.
I think there are so many factors at play (besides the obvious fuckery that is the GOP, and all their rhetoric “maternity leave is bad for business! we need to stop entitlements! socialists blerg blerg blerg!”). My current experience, being almost 8 months pregnant, is that the benefit of maternity leave has just…
I love when a man says, “Why should I pay for someone else’s decision?” Like paid maternity leave is some sort of welfare. Or the it means women will just bump out babies for FREEEEE MOOOOONEY!
Pleeeeaaaaaase let me and my sister do Washington and Baltimore and see how different they turn out. My sister and I have bounced back and forth between the two cities quite a bit (both raised in Baltimore, both went to college in DC, one lives in Baltimore and one in DC now).
Part time college faculty, unite! My students pay over four times in tuition what I make in a year.
My father retired as a colonel in the marine corp after 26 years and four wars. I have lived in virginia, missouri, new jersey, california, hawaii, baltimore, dubai, and shanghai. I miss and love all the places I can remember. But Baltimore, the first place I CHOSE to live will forever remain in my heart. Natty Boh…
At one point, she asked if he would consider quitting his job to be a stay-at-home father given how much he wanted a baby. "That just wasn't the plan he had in mind," she said.
I can take care of Baltimore or DC! Baltimore would, in my opinion, be quite interesting.
As a 30 something woman who has also chosen not to have women, i strongly believe in paid maternity leave. It supports working women and even if i may never take advantage of it, i want to live in a world where it is a reality. Without it we see working women disenfranchised from careers when men are not and poor…
