There’s having an opinion on something, and then there’s investing your self-worth into something then having it feel like a personal insult whenever someone criticises that thing.

I’d not heard about the story before this. I’m sure I’m not alone.
I don’t know why they thought this would be a good idea. They had to know that the LA Times would say something, and it’s not that hard to predict that at least a couple other major papers would support them.
Like, if they don’t actually think the words “what a fucking cunt” they are okay.
My favorite is when they think wanting to have sex with women = ergo they love/respect women
Engaged in that behavior multiple times, with multiple women, over a long period of time at that.
This whole “This is not who I am” thing put forward by so many of these creeps is making me blind with rage. By definition, if you engaged in this behavior, it IS WHO YOU FUCKING ARE!
It seems like so many men think that if they don’t have a burning, all-consuming hatred for women in the forefront of their conscious brains, that this automatically means that they respect women. Like, if they don’t actually think the words “what a fucking cunt” they are okay.
I take it you’ve not seen this.
That is one of the most incredible things i have ever seen.
In my Mass Media Law class in college, I was taught that “allegedly” is a weak protection, and it’s safer to carefully source allegations and not use that word.
Holy shit, this is not a complex topic, and yet 90% of the commenters are totally thrown. Diana is NOT advocating for the right to libel people at will. She is arguing that the words “alleged” and “accused” are bad ways to carefully source allegations.
Her intentions are good, but I can imagine a whole lot of brown/black people feeling incredibly uncomfortable being asked to come to the front. What if they’re happy standing or sitting where they are? They came to a concert, not be used as a prop.
Piven definitely did it. It’s not news to me that he’s a creep. I remember Debra Messing saying that when he guested on Will & Grace, instead of doing a fake acting kiss, he’d shove his tongue into her mouth every take. Fucking asshole.
The single greatest day of my life was when Dog followed me. RIP Dog, Good Boy, All Dog Blogs Go To Heaven.
I find it pretty fucked up that the article mentions the names of “Jennifer” and “Tasha” but just refers to “their dogs” like they aren’t people, too. So sick of this anthropoarchal bullshit.
It always reminds me of this C.S. Lewis quote:
The momentum that’s been created recently by the many courageous women who have opened up about their own stories has inspired me to finally be more direct, at whatever cost.
