I was born and raised in Knoxville and I’m a graduate of the University of Tennessee. I confess that I’m pretty contemptuous of the athletic program, but Pat Summitt and the Lady Vols are one of the things that make me proud to say “I went to school there!”

I feel awful for anyone who has to watch a loved one’s mental capacity diminish. When that goes, the physical just withers away and it’s tough to be around.

It’s a real shame because she has accomplished so much that in this phase of her life people give her awards and reflect on all she has done. She will not be able to comprehend all this and that is truly tragic. Thank you Pat Summitt for all you did for basketball. You are legend.

I remember as a kid rooting hard against those Tennessee teams, wishing all the worst to their coach and painting her as the portrait of villainy. She seems to have been as far from my image of her as could even be possible. She doesn’t deserve the lot she’s been saddled with. I wish her peace when the time comes.

Sad. I grew up wishing I would one day get to join her program. Tennessee during her reign was basically the only team that made women’s basketball interesting to watch, for me.
